As far as Yub Nub goes, it is a Williams composition and you can't deny the strings of the symphony easing its way in just as Luke sees old SebAnikin; and then the chorus "celebrate the love" crescendoing.

I wish I was on Endor right now.
The new music is a Williams composition too. I love them both.

ok, so wait, the 3 trilogy 6 disk set is original remastered film, or CGI enhanced films? So confused, don't want to pull the trigger on the wrong set.

Only the 2011 Blu-ray Special Edition versions of all 6 films are on the Blu-ray sets.

As said above, all the blu rays are the same SE versions.

The only way to own the original cuts on DVD is the horrible non-anamorphic versions on the DVDs released around 2007 or so. I forget when exactly they came out. I wouldn't bother though, they're not any better than laserdisc rips you can get online.

The issue with the rips online is that they are illegal.

Besides the fact that promoting rips is taboo here, there are some people here who are more eager to obey the law but aren't fully aware of what is and isn't legal. When done people here were not aware that the Fox logo and fanfare wasn't actually part of the Star Wars movies until recently, I think you cannot assume anything is common knowledge no matter how obvious it may be to you and me.

IMO the 1997 version is the best ending to ROTJ. It has the new and improved music that the newer versions also have, but the main thing is that it also still retains Sebastian Shaw! So we get the best of both worlds.

Where did you get that idea? This article on the fanfare from Wookieepedia says the fanfare "was displayed during the opening of the movie studio's feature films", and that John Williams composed the original Star Wars theme with the fanfare in mind:
Quote:
When John Williams signed onto the Star Wars project, one of his first moves was to compose the Main Title to Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope in the same key as the 20th Century Fox Fanfare. He has said before that it was truly meant as another extension of the fanfare, and it has since then been adopted by Star Wars film score buffs as part and parcel of the scores to Star Wars.

I'd love to get the 1997 SEs remastered.

I don't get the nostalgia for the Fox fanfare though. It lives in front of plenty of other films and doesn't make Star Wars what it is, not to me anyway, and I can enjoy Clone Wars just fine without it. And when the Disney logo fades, John Williams' classic title music blares out and the words STAR WARS: EPISODE VII scroll upwards on the screen in front of me, I'll have the biggest grin on my face and won't be giving a single **** about the logos that preceded it. If people are that desperate for the Fox logo then there'll be plenty of fan edits around which will add it back in, I guarantee.

I think the nostalgia comes from the way that the Fox fanfare flowed into the opening. The Fox music is still playing when it transitions to the Lucasfilm logo, and then goes to a very brief silence, followed by the 'explosion' of music of the Star Wars theme/John Williams score, the whole thing is just very iconic. So I understand why for a lot of people the two are tied together. Clone Wars hardly compares being a TV show and all.

That said, while I will say it will be somewhat disappointing to not have the Fox fanfare at the start of the newer movies, if these movies turn out to be good and much better than the prequels, I can live without the Fox fanfare in exchange for an actual good movie.

He was referring to someone else who posted a couple of pages back saying that they didn't realize UNTIL they read an article recently that the Fox fanfare opening was not specific to Star Wars, but was rather Fox's general opening for all of their movies. Here is the quote, followed by my previous reply to it (bolded emphasis added by me)...

The link, anyways.

I agree that it is very iconicially tied with the Star Wars films and it is sad that it won't be a part of the new ones, but I didn't have to read an article to figure it out.

Maybe John Williams can do some sort of knock-off Fox fanfare music for the Lucasfilm logo?
