Speaking of 'shooting first', get a load of another edited Solo scene in the upcoming BD.

Nobody loves the Greedo change, but I just love the teeth knashing over a couple CG enhancements, and a couple added scenes that don't change the plot or tone of the films one iota.

One would think that, with seamless branching capabilities, the original trilogy should be able to come onto BD with all versions available via menu options. If this isn't the case, I won't be buying.

P.S. I have no interest in Episodes I, II, or III. Just IV, V, and VI for this cat. AND I DON'T EVEN LIKE STAR WARS MUCH!

I have spent far more than that on all of the combined previous versions (VHS, laserdisc, DVD, etc.), so anything in that ballpark will seem like a deal for the BD version.

Glad that he's not putting the "workprint cuts" on the release. I prefer the new versions.

Hopefully the cruddy Yoda puppet from TPM is replaced with the CGI one also.
I'd say he'll be changed without a doubt. I mean they did that "test" what, 5 years ago that was on the RotS DVD? It's a pretty safe bet that he'll be replaced.

Bingo.

I'm sure it'll be higher than that though.

$180-$200 maybe?

Which means, hopefully we'd get it for around $115-$140 when it is released

Aye. Plus the footage from TPM during the big Star Wars music performances they've been having lately have used the CGI Yoda footage as well. So I also assume that it will indeed be that version on Blu.

Default Is Lucas Really Releasing the Blu-ray for Fans?

I've been reading complaints that Lucas is not listening to fans by releasing the blu-ray of Special Editions instead of the original theatrical editions.

So let's vote. If the majority say YES, then George Lucas IS listening to fans by releasing the Special Edition only. If not, I'll admit that Mr George Lucas never cares about the fans.

This is straight to the point YES or NO poll, no option for BOTH or NEVER CARED, etc.

EDIT: Looks like the question to my poll has been edited by Mods. Fine, I'll take YES as by FANS who likes or at least don't hate the Special Editions, and Lucas is listening to them. Let's see who are the majority.

If you are talking about Star Wars, there were far more than a couple (couple = 2) CG enhancements.

For me, the problem is that much of it looks like a cartoon imposed over a film, not an integrated part of the story/filmmaking. It's not nearly so bad in the prequels because they were designed to mix with the cartoons, but with the OT most of it sticks out like a sore thumb. That's why, whenever I watch ANH on Blu, I'll probably just watch the last 1/3rd because little was changed in the live action scenes there.

That said, not everything he did was bad. For instance, I think Bespin looks much, much better now and I greatly prefer the SE of ESB overall. It's because he didn't change the film, he enhanced it. And there is a fine line there. I didn't like the Jedi SE as much as ESB because of the digital band - they just don't fit with the rest of the film and it's just unnecessary - but I am so grateful that they didn't cartoon-up Jabba himself. And, unfortunately, the Rancor effects (specifically when Luke is being handled by him) *STILL* look like crap.

After viewing Batman (1989) on Blu, I thought, "Gee I really wouldn't mind them going and redoing a lot of the special effects in an new edition". Now, that would be a redo of the special effects, but a far cry from if, say, they digitally inserted Harley Quinn into the story.

I'm not a hater, I don't obsess over the changes - it's still Star Wars, it's just cartoon effects in general. People are slowly learning that mixing cartoon characters with live-action is problematic at best, and only in rare circumstances does it actually work and is believable. I am sure I would have purchased this box either way, but I *DO* feel a lot better about it because of Lucas' words regarding the Classic editions and that they may follow. None of this "workprint" garbage, he finally has enough, well, class to call them the "Classic" editions.

I laughed so hard when the National Film Registry told him to bug off with his SE's - maybe that started to hammer the point in to him.

I'm a life long fan of Star Wars and, frankly, the amount of changes made to OT that I actually like far outway the ones I don't. I'm happy with whatever version is given to us. With Jabba outside the Millennium Falcon, Greedo shooting first, and the dance sequence in ROTJ aside, I prefer the Special Editions.

Watching the HD versions of the films on Spike, I will say that though the SE editions don't bug me as much as most people. The scene in Episode IV when they go to the Mos Eisleys Cantina looks out of place.

I am kind of interested in the lightsaber scene though for Jedi they're talking about. It sounds cool.

The blu-ray release is gonna be all 6 movies in one boxset. The original trilogy will be the special editions of the movies with probably some more changes made to them. The prequel trilogy will have some changes made to them as well. Also, the special features are said to be all new ones with deleted scenes that have never been seen before.

Years ago they've already done a CGI Yoda to replace the puppet in Episode I, I believe it will be used in this release. I don't mind this the puppet was awful.
