She should be a little bit more careful with what she retweets then. Anyway, being the daughter of George Lucas, she is going to have to get thicker skin unfortunatly.

The thing that upsets me the most is that Lucas and Lucasfilm had no intention of ever letting anybody know that this content was on the disc until the initial release date because they knew the amount of blowback that it would cause. They tried the same shit with Indy IV as well. Unbelievable.

I'd say 95% of those complaints are aimed at one word... the word No. I understand people not wanting it there (they have good reasons) but to say you love SW and then not buy it because of one word? Come on! This is SW we're talking about. We knew he'd make changes...

The 16th is coming and some of us will be seeing SW in HD with LOSSLESS sound. What, 98% of the movie is identical to the OOT (or maybe 90%). Just watch em and enjoy the 90%.

Then come back and complain here.

Are those the Laserdisc??

I have that edition on VHS, how does the Laserdisc COMPARE to the VHS? Is there a difference in audio (other than channels)? Is there a difference in aspect ratio? resolution?

info boy! info!

In all fairness to whoever tweeted that - it's merely a comic line from Joss Whedon's show "Firefly", in which Shepherd Book tells Mal if he takes advantage of the young girl he's just accidentally married, he will "go to a very special level of hell reserved for child molesters and people who talk at the theatre."

This thread needs a posting limit, something like one post per hour for each user. At this rate the thread could make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.

That would require actually buying the new and (dis)improved versions of the films. If we do that, the (film) terrorists [read: Lucas and his sycophants] win.

Video Quality rivals DVD with the better transfers. With Star Wars there's a huge advantage over VHS, not quite up to DVD.

Resolution is about double VHS (if im not mistaken), Laserdiscs are almost always availible in Pan & Scan and Letterboxed... most VHS releases (besides Star Wars) were only Pan & Scan

Stereo audio is uncompressed, so better than DVD. (5.1 audio is compressed so technically speaking, worse than DVD, though it really depends on the mix)

There are no reputable sources to suggest anything was destroyed. These days, no one is going to throw away irreplaceable material from one of the most important films the artform has seen.

Did you do the free shipping? If so, that would be the expected date (seems they go slower with processing those). However, if you have already selected release date shipping or two day you can just try switching the delivery method back and forth and it should update your estimated delivery date. I hope this helps!

Apparently back in the eighties The Creator™ didn't view directors and screenwriters as mere hired hands.

Not so much now though, maybe.
Or maybe he changed his mind? That may have happened.

Now I will wait until either the price comes down to under $50 or a used set is under $50.
George looks a little bit like Jabba there. Perhaps we have the reason for much of the insanity: FAT CLOUDS THE BRAIN!

Nope. Loathed the Prestige. I can tolerate Batman Begins. Hate the Dark Knight with a passion.

Thanks for the info about Memento. I wasn't aware that it was someone else I can thank for enjoying it.
