The Star Wars Tech program is really fun. I'm really glad they included that. Something I can erase from the DVR.

Do we know the video quality of the special features yet? I figure the new docs will be HD whereas the old ones from 77-83 could very well be on par with the 2006 UOT discs.

I had a 1-day "vacation" from this site due to my severe dislike of the new changes (which I've personally resolved not to rehash). I'm not trying to get anyone to buy anything, now I'm just giving impartial information. I've seen the 3 documentaries in question, and they are quality features worth seeing.

@georgec: I'm 99.99% sure that the vintage docs from 77-83 will be 480i/p. They most likely will be from their respective original LD masters, just like the 2006 UOT "bonus discs".

Default Nooooooo

Say what you will about the audio change in ROTJ, but the more I watch it, the more I like it. Yes, I said it...even the extended "Noooo." Sure, it's a dub of the ROTS quote, but with these two "No's" in the scene, it actually makes the scene more powerful, by bringing the Balance of the Force full circle. But I will say this, what they should have done was redo the effect to give it a fresh appeal, because everyone will instantly recognize it as the same audio bit from ROTS.

Oh shoot....BREAKING....Speilberg confirms that T-Rex scream in Jurassic Park has been replaced with a "Nooooooooooo."

New poll, which is good. I only wanted two of them anyway and the changes are obviously ridiculous. So not getting until individual release.

I thought from comparing the two it was clear that the one in RotJ is NOT the same one from RotS?

Even if it were the same bit of audio, the "Nooooo" from ROTS is the worst Vader moment in the entire Saga. It rivals fan fiction in it's awfulness.

A) Luke wasn't a whiny murderring thug, he was just whiny.

B) He also grew up. He started out a whiny, impatient adolescent. He faced adversity and he came out of it a grown-up.

That's a character arc that works.

Going from whiny murdering thug to whiny murdering thug in a cooler suit?

That's a character arc that doesn't work.

Goodness,

I go to Hershey Park for one day and we get another 50 page to read through

Boy, did anything happen? I think we need someone to create a summary post for each day!

I found his ultimate turn very powerful. His fear of losing loved ones is something we can all identify with and this fear leads to his downfall in trying to control his life and those around him absolutely. "Absolute power corrupts absolutely." All of this comes from the loss of his mother in this pivotal scene. I don't know if you've ever lost a parent or a loved one as a teenager, but I have and this kind of feeling, of wanting to protect and hold dearly those you love with an iron-grip, is a very real one.

His teenage years seen in AOTC feel truthful. He's nineteen years old, he's a flurry of adrenaline and hormones, raw power and emotional with little self-control...y'know, like most teenagers. He was a decent, sympathetic character who let his love and compassion turn into a fear that corrupted him completely.
This is all how I see it. I agree completely. I think that the people who seem to casually dismiss his character arc just aren't considering all of the presented factors that affect the character. When I was a kid, I wanted more than anything to be like Luke Skywalker. Now that I'm older and have been through more complex emotional experiences, I can relate more to Anakin, and empathize with his tragic destiny.

I also like how he is handled in the Clone Wars series. It shows that he is an overall good/heroic person, but they still show him struggling with attachments, breaking rules, and being brash/impulsive.

last 50 pages?

well Lucas finally came out and said he go the one billionth complaint, which was his signal to not only release the UOT blu-ray next week, but to make us all honor Jedi masters. Beast chose to be a Sith Master.

I mean, no, nothings happened.

Between here and theforce.net there's maybe 25 people that have seen the entire saga more times than myself and I rate them as follows:

TPM: 6/10 - Without Jar Jar and the comedic droids I probably would have given it a 7.
AOTC: 4/10 - Awful in every sense of the word. The only redeeming portion of the film is the last 20 minutes.
ROTS: 7/10 - It felt more like the originals in terms of real character devlopment.
ANH: 9/10 - It has Sir Alec Guiness. Do I need to say more?
TESB: 10/10 - Easily Kirshner's best film and the best sci-fi film of the 20th century IMHO.
ROTJ: 8/10 - Felt like ANH with more involvement with Vader, but the Ewoks ruined a potentially excellent followup to ESB.

I don't find it scary that a movie maker changes/updates his own movies.
There has been a lot of post on this topic. It's fine for Lucas to change his own films since they are... his.

I would have to agree on this I swear when I first saw TPM I thought Jar Jar Binks was Jar Jar Blinks! Because everytime I saw him I had to blink to get him out of the picture

Yeah, that whole opening "Battle Of Coruscant" scene should be absolutely stunning on the Blu-Ray. Can't wait!

I just love how Anakin's delivery to Grevious perfectly echos Leia's to Vader and/or Grand Moff Tarkin in ANH. Love those connecting moments.

I really like when Anakin and Obiwan are flying together in the battle, it really let's you seen how they grew as friends and hero's in the Clone Wars. It's easy to see how Anakin and his relationship matured since Ep 2.

I've always thought Anakin was kind of a d-bag really. That being said, I to this day was not convinced by Ep III (a movie I like btw) of his turn. It just felt forced to me and not believable.

The other thing that bothers me is I watch the Clone Wars, and my kid loves it along with a lot of kids. They like Anakin. I just don't get it. He's rude and arrogant. He's brash and consistently does not abide his orders. He's a horrible Jedi in many aspects and a bad teacher to boot.

Like someone said, Luke was a lot like his father at first as far as being whiney. Kind of why I like him, he started out as a whiney b*tch in Ep IV. The first half of Ep V he was still like that but as he started to believe in himself he became a lot stronger character. In Ep VI he is very confident, but he's not at all arrogant.
But at least Anakin was given a story reason for being arrogant. The most powerful man in the galaxy, his surrogate father figure, gave him special attention for 13 years and told him that he is special, that he is entitled to special treatment/recognition, that he is better than everybody else, and that he doesn't have to follow the rules, etc. Plus having off-the-chart Force abilities to back it up, and the Jedi referring to him as "The Chosen One" didn't help matters. He was manipulated from the age of nine until his fall to the Dark Side at twenty-three. So he wasn't arrogant just for the hell of it. Gotta take all of that into consideration when judging the character.

I think if Palpatine was never involved, nurturing the negative aspects of his personality and boosting his ego, Anakin would have developed into a much more humble person on the Jedi path. But that's not how it played out.
