This is the store where I picked up the set on Friday, and they had about 100-150 copies that morning (if not more!) and they sold out by Saturday evening!

Went to another FS, they had two copies this morning and are all out now.

I really did not expect this set to sell like this. I know it's Star Wars, but selling hundreds of sets from 2 stores over the course of a weekend... wow!
That's crazy. Glad it's selling so well!

I only watched ANH and ESB.

Is the Luke lightsaber construction scene included in the ROTJ or is it just on the special feature discs?

Finally finished the prequels today! Watched TPM on Friday, AotC on Saturday, and just finished RotS.

Unfortunately I do have to agree that people are right about the AQ-RotS is a bit lacking compared to TPM and AotC :/ But it still sounded amazing! Just lacked that 'punch'...

I'm gonna start the OT with ANH tomorrow, since classes are cancelled for me If I have enough time maybe I'll even put in ESB!

As for the PQ, I am very impressed. TPM did have some soft spots, but overall was a very detailed transfer. AotC I thought fared very well; it did have a FEW soft spots, but nothing that was really worth mentioning. RotS on the other hand, had fantastic PQ, just as I was expecting!

So far for the bonus discs, I have seen everything for TPM. Everything is very impressive, from the interviews to the video commentaries for the impressive model viewings!

The reaction is him throwing the Emperor down a shaft, ending his alliance and ending his life on the dark side.

I didn't need to be hit over the head with a "NOOOOOOO!" like I was too stupid to grasp his emotions without him basically saying "I AM CONFLICTED NOW!"

There is something to be said for subtlety, at least for many of us.

To me it's the equivalent of DeNiro saying to Keitel in Taxi Driver: "I am shooting you now because you're a bad person!"

The spoofs should have ended using the clip of the kid on Candid Camera. The very ast line would heve been so cool at the end

Do you know what you wanna be when you grow up?

Kid: Umm yeah... I'm gunna be a star wars fan.
That would have been so cool to have as the last clip, then fade to black. But insted we had a crappy Sat Nav voice over comercial

I totally understand how people would be pissed off with it..I guess it's the original fans from 77 - 83 who are most pissed of with it.. I went to the Cinema to see Jedi in 83 when I was 5..

In a way I should be like , don't fkn mess with it.. But I understand the whole conflicted thing.. It works well both ways.. I guess now thinking about it, it's more simplified that scene.. I guess i'm kinda torn now that I have thought about it..

DAMN!!!

I understand that ROTS lacks the "punch" people keep mentioning, but it sounds like the mix isn't as heavy on LFE as the other two prequels. There's still lots of bass going on - it's just not in the lightsabers anymore, as far as I could here, and a bit less ground-shaking oomph in the explosions.

If we were discussing the mix, I think we could all agree it's not as well-done. As far as the AQ of the Blu-ray itself though, ROTS is as good as the other two. The audio transfer is tremendous as far as its detail, actually - occasionally surpassing the others by my estimation.

I think some people may just be a little bit too obsessed with their subwoofers (but I've always felt that way about HT systems, to the point where I keep my sub a bit quieter than most people so it doesn't ever overwhelm the other speakers).

I totally agree with you. There's really no reason to have subwoofers that have more than 200-250w power. At that point they begin to drown out the other speakers.

But he isn't saying "I am conflicted now!" He says nothing, he just utters his pain of seeing his son be killed. Don't exaggerate! You have to admit, if it would always have been Vader yelling "NOOO" you would LOVE IT and would defend to no end!

It tips off the audience and makes it extra obvious what his decision is. How that's an improvement I don't know. I can understand people saying it doesn't ruin the scene but its as pointless as adding cg rocks. Thanks for making extra sure I know R2 will be safe and that Vader will do the right thing.

Why I need to buy the set to justify that sentiment I don't know.

I finally got to watch TPM from start to finish this afternoon, and...man, oh man, I can't believe how many "oh there's a little DNR, but it's very well done" comments I've seen about this disc.

On my 50", this disc looks absolutely slathered in DNR to the point where it distracted me from the film. Any shots with Natalie, Liam or Jake especially showed off what they had done to this poor disc. It's such a shame - you can see the potential is there with the new master they created...and then they absolutely wrecked it. Ugly ugly UGLY.

I have to agree

It's not unwatchable... Predator was unwatchable to me. I returned it for the MPEG-2 version

I just hate looking at the sky and not seeing any grain at all, when I know it should be there.

Thankfully there's a bit more detail than most heavily DNRd films *cough* Universal *cough* but any more noise reduction would have really wrecked the transfer.

It's in the loss of future sales from people who will buy the UOT, and never buy any future incarnation of Star Wars ever again. Even though there is strong demand for the UOT, most film buffs and hardcore fans will settle for the SE if the UOT is unavailable. But the reverse isn't true. Once film buffs and hardcore fans get their hands on a definitive copy of the UOT, most of them won't bother with any other version ever again.

That is why I am convinced that the UOT can only come after George Lucas has issued his Final Cut of the entire saga. It will not come before then.
My opinion is this:

If Lucas takes the original prints and scans them for the UOT blu-ray, then those scans will probably look better than the SE scans. Then we have a problem - the UOT looks better than the "Special Editions"? Lucas won't go for that.

So, if he does the UOT, then he has to redo all the work on the SE's which I think would be a real pain (to add the special FX/enhancements) back into the SE's. In other words, he'd have to start all over again (I'm more or less thinking out loud - I'm no expert on this).

But I'm confident that there is no way Lucas would allow the UOT to look better than the SE's.

But, but...... now that Vader gets to say something the poor Emperor is left with no vocalisation of his thoughts. Well, unless you count "AAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!"

2018 re-release:

Vader: No. Nooooooooooooooo.
Emperor (falling down reactor shaft): "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! Oh darn: AAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!"

I don't understand how people can call that an easter egg! It's listed in the bloody booklet, there's nothing hidden about it. It's a feature not an easter egg. And the site that calls it such should learn the difference.
