Thank you. I love that word "buffoon". It's not used enough nowadays. So you think that everything you like is good? Are there any movies that you like that you know are bad? Who says you can't like something that is bad or sucks?

I'm pretty sure they have been released at least once-on THX laserdisc around 1995, I think. And weren't they also release on VHS too?

I have watched ANH and 1/2 of ESB with my kids and noticed no audio dropouts at all. I am letting the player do the decoding as the Onkyo 805 suffers from the notorious DTS bomb and I haven't messed with updating the firmware (since you have to do it via optical, of all things).

I am betting if those of you that are experiencing the problem allow the player to do the decoding you won't experience the problem. I'd be interested in hearing if that fixes the issue or not.
Thanks, Aramis! Hopefully, I'll be able to let go and enjoy the movie, although I always end up fiddling with new toys a bit!

Yes, the THX VHS box set in 1993.

Because good/bad/sucks are all words that come from an individual's point-of-view. They're not fact, as he was clearly stating. Why would someone like something that sucks? If he/she likes it, by definition, it's good.

Funny really. I flagged up the dropout issue a couple of weeks ago, when the UK discs started emerging, and was told not to panic people about something for which there was no proof. Well now you have proof.

Ironically I have a Panasonic BD-55 feeding a Denon 3805 received and I had zero problems with the UK set. It's an older received so my outputs are LPCM (not bitstream).

Considering George Lucas himself has reiterated the phrase "films are never finished," that'll be a long wait.

Besides, I'm convinced that with home computing power getting even cheaper and faster than ever, film fans won't have to wait for George Lucas.

I love how this thread has become so huge that it's invading the LotR thread!

There will be a final cut though. Maybe after he's dead. Not that I want it to happen; I'm certainly not malicious like that. But you know, it'll happen eventually.

I understand that if I change the decoding to the player instead of the receiver that the dropouts may disappear, but I don't feel I should HAVE to because of faulty disc manufacturing.

Not trying to start an argument, just voicing an opinion...

On another note, I scanned through the set and I have to say how utterly disappointed I am with the bluray quality of the OT. In some places it looked like a MESS!!! I was wondering if my TV had accidently decalibrated itself.

In a lot of places it seems like there is fake grain and color bleed. The Phantom Menace also looked pretty terrible. I was disappointed. BIG time.

However it got much better with AotC and RotS.

The surface of my Episode II disc is flawless and I don't see any paint flaking off of the printed side.

I have petitioned Panasonic to investigate this situation by sending them an E-mail via their web site:

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-e...t/Contact-Us.2

If you have a Panasonic brand player and you're experience audio and/or video issues with the Star Wars set, please take a few moments to write to Panasonic and explain the problem. If enough people write, hopefully, we'll have a firmware update/fix sooner rather than later.

Precisely the reason I got rid of my Panny BD-35 after the blu laser went out after owning it for 8 months. That player had way too long load times anyways. Do yourself a favor and junk it for a better player.

IMHO Oppo, LG, and Sony still make the best BD players. I have logged thousands of hours on my LG BH200 and it still plays everything I throw at it flawlessly and LG still regularly updates it.

American Graffiti and Star Wars were both well-written and well-directed. No two ways about that. But they're also thirty-five to forty years old. Artists get old. They get comfortable. They get in ruts. Sometimes they lose sight of what they're good at and what they're not good at.

And sometimes they just get lucky.

Sylvester Stallone wrote Rocky. Explain that...
Yep, and John Carpenter used to be good too, in his youth. And Peter Bogdanovich. And William Friedkin. And...

went back to FS during lunch today to try and exchange the set due to the paint chipping

they said they wouldn't have a problem exchanging it... if only they had any in stock

This is the store where I picked up the set on Friday, and they had about 100-150 copies that morning (if not more!) and they sold out by Saturday evening!

Went to another FS, they had two copies this morning and are all out now.

I really did not expect this set to sell like this. I know it's Star Wars, but selling hundreds of sets from 2 stores over the course of a weekend... wow!

You know, I liked the scene the way it was because you could tell Vader was conflicted in that scene even through his mask. That being said, the No-No did not bother as much as I expected it to when I watched the blu-ray this past weekend.

I was like WTF?! when I seen the clip from the BDRip on youtube, but when it's watched in context of the entire film it works pretty well in my oppinion
