Yeah it should be "enhanced". I'm glad this is the mentality of so many out there. Just replace all the actors with CG like "Polar Express" and be done with it already.

Nice jab there btw, totally the pot calling the kettle black, but I respect the effort.

Sorry, I didn't know it was a contest. I bought both Thor AND The Star Wars Saga last week.

"The numbers" will release some estimates for units sold in a week or so. The exact number of unit sold is only known to the studio
[Show spoiler]and probably George Lucas
.

The Complete Saga accounts for most of the SW sales (39.45% of Thor's unit total), the OT was 2.61% of Thor's unit total. As far as the prequel trilogy, it did not make the top 20 in the overall sales charts. I could impute the % for the PT, but it is small. Remember one unit of The Complete Saga = $79.99 in revenue and 1 unit of Thor will vary depending on the edition(Blu-ray 2D, 3D, DVD, ect). Blu-ray sales records were set this week, I just do not know the exact numbers for now. More updates will be forthcoming in the News Section.

100% agree. I don't think anyone involved did anything out of the ordinary with ESB versus the other Star Wars movies - I don't think any extra love was put into that one over the others - but absolutely everything happened to come together perfectly in that one.

Watched ATOC last night (it's no Empire Strikes Back, but it's still a pretty fun movie), and I have to admit that the last 40 minutes completely save that one. It's Revenge of the Sith night tonight, and I am psyched.

I know it's en vogue to give all the credit to Kershner, but he really does bring this flick to the next level. Even just the way he'll allow an actors face to linger on screen a second longer than Lucas would, goes a long way in a 2 hour movie. The dialogue between Han and Leia is so much more naturalistic than the Anakin/Padme stuff, and their delivery sells it better as well.

It just blows me away how good Empire is. Not a single other SW movie even comes close by all the traditional barometers of quality. I love ANH and ROTJ but ESB is just unbelievably well-done. This is what all SW would be like if everyone devoted this much time to character development, subtlety and nuance, and spent less time designing characters who will translate into action figures.

The whole Dagobah sequence, the amount of incredible Zen-like Yoda quotes in like a 10 minute span is just mind-blowing. Luke's dream sequence with Vader in the cave... not even mentioning the Vader reveal, the Bespin blaster battle, Luke's rescue...

What's awesome is how little has been changed from the initial release. All I really noticed were the Wampa which I've always thought was an OK change, Fett's voice which is fine, and the Emperor being changed, which I actually thought was a great improvement.

This whole set was worth $90 because of how downright amazing The Empire Strikes Back is.

One being that it's a catalog title as well. So not everyone is going to rush to upgrade it. And Thor was a BLU/DVD Combo Pack.
... and Star Wars was the most anticipated HD release of all times, while Thor is an ok but just above average Summer superhero popcorn flick.

Again, I -am- going to buy it, so calling me a "hater" does not cut it.
But any way you guys are trying to sugar coat it, it is still a big disappointment, and hopefully one that'll turn on a lightbulb in GL's mind ("maybe I should -also- make the UOT available?"), specially given how much the OT outsold the PT in the separate combo packs.

I watched TPM last night as well. Transfer was much better than I expected after reading some reviews/comments. Some DNR, but I've definitely seen worse. Sound is some of the best BR audio I have ever heard. Played flawlessly as well, hope I have as much luck with the rest of the set. On to AOTC tonight...

Great story about sharing TPM with your kid. I can remember watching the DVD several times with my nephew.

You know I can understand the "Love it or Hate it" that results in either a 5-star or a 1-star vote.....

but I crack up at those 55 2-stars ratings!

I mean, are there people out there that are really upset at not getting the OT but somewhat forgiving, so they give it a 2-star? Aren't you either mad about the set and give it a 1-star, or you forgive it and move on and give it a 3, 4 or 5 based on video & audio quality?

But those 2-stars - "oh damn that Lucas for changing it all, but I can't fully commit to hating you so here's a 2".

Maybe 2 looks like a more credible legit dislike than 1. Sort of like making a fake ID that says 23 instead of 21.

Remember The Complete Saga was available only in Blu and Thor in Blu and DVD. All units for The Complete Saga X $79.99 will easily best all Blu-ray/DVD units (Thor) X respective selling prices for DVD and Blu-ray. Star Wars kicked behind in terms of generating cash...#1 for the week for both the Blu-ray and the overall (Blu-ray + DVD) sales chart.

The facts do not change.
SW didn't not sell as well as it should have in the amount of units it should have with it's large fan/following and anticipated HD release.

We need to face the facts that those +20% that didn't buy impacted the units sold.

First time viewing? I'd say IV-V-VI-I-II-III, the order they were released.

Seen 'em all before a number of times? I-II-III-IV-V-VI. This way you get to end on a high note, and the prequel stuff sometimes does add an "oh cool" to the OT.

If you have the patience, go IV-V-VI-I-II-III-IV-V-VI, it lets you see the OT normally and then check some continuity stuff created by the PT.

That's what I'd recommend anyway.

Yeah, that way is pretty good, provided you like spoiling a number of big reveals and don't have any issues with the continuity issues they introduce.

Horses for courses, though, some people don't care much about continuity!

I'd recommend NEVER doing that for a first viewing. The original release order IV, V, VI is the way to see these. Otherwise, there's spoilers a plenty for a first time viewer. Plus, watching the PT first, you're subjecting a first time viewer to torture.

There are no spoilers anymore. I-VI in order is a more consistent and enjoyable experience. You'd have to find someone living on a cave who hasn't heard either the real thing or a parody of "I am your father."
