I think Revenge Of The Sith is very good and next to Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi its my all time favorite Star Wars movie.

Everyone is too critical of this stuff. George worked so darn hard to give us these prequels and everyones hatred has put a huge damper on the word Star Wars. YOU guys have ruined what is so great. Seriously, I've seen the prequels as many times as I have seen the originals, and I think they're all really fun movies. Same with Indy Jones 4, great great flick.
I'm sorry, but if you like the movies, why care what anyone else thinks of them?

Oh, and because Lucas worked hard on it, he should be impervious to criticism? That's not really how it works. If someone doesn't want to get criticized, he should not make movies and bring them to audiences.

Did he? From what I can tell, the prequels read like he never even proof checked the scripts. How can you mistake the Jedi council of existing "for over a thousand years" when in a movie he shot over 20-years earlier, they had existed "for over a thousand generations". Big difference, y'know.

The thousand years refers to that specific Era's Constitution.
The Jedi has served a thousand Generations worth's of Constitutions.

You refer to the Ruusan Reformation, an attempt by expanded universe writers to retcon this discrepancy.

That's actually what I love about Star Wars. For every error in the movies, there's an expanded universe explanation .

And it gets even better when the explanations contradict themselves . Sometimes they are useful and fill in the gaps, but on other occassions..

Why don't you bring up the Kessel Run "in less than 12 parsecs" thing instead

Who cares anyway, and a thousand generations *is* over a thousand years...

It's quite a big gap, though. "I'll see you in a year" isn't quite the same as "I'll see you in a generation" .

Actually he worked too darn hard, by taking complete ownership of the projects. At a minimum he needed to relinquish scriptwriting duties to replicate some of the lighter touches of the OOT.

Close to my feelings, where I'm impressed by everyone having a story. Definitely helps build the world. Highly recommend Shadows of the Empire.

That was good, but nothing beats the first 3 Timothy Zahn books from the early 90's. Those are what resparked my love of SW.

It's a non question since nobody said in the movies that the Jedi Coucil existed for over a thousand years.

They're arguing over these lines:

"For over a thousand generations the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic" - Obi-Wan to Luke in A New Hope.

"I will not allow this Republic, which has stood for a thousand years, be split in two" - Chancellor Palpatine to Padme and the Jedi in his office in Attack of the Clones.

So they're basically taking Lucas to task over something Palpatine said.

Granted Lucas wrote both lines but there's 2 different people saying this here. If it had been Obi-Wan who turned around and said "A thousand years" then I'd see some of the fuss. Palpatine is a politician making a dramatic statement for his audience, none of which is about to stop and correct him. Not to get political here but when President Obama told the press that he had campaigned in 57 states plus one to go nobody corrected him to his face (he meant 47).

Well Lucas wrote what Palpatine said, so there!

Seriously though, of all the filmmaking and storytelling problems of the prequels to discuss, this minor continuity discrepancy shouldn't even be a microscopic blip on the radar. That's like being on the Titanic while it's sinking and complaining that the toilet in your room is backed up.
