In order of the way I enjoyed them, I would place them this way

1. The Empire Strikes Back : Even way back in 1980 I had enjoyed this much more than A New Hope. Great story, darker and Han had a separate story line from Luke. He was always a much more interesting character for me than Luke

2. Revenge Of The Sith : Great ending to the series, plus after 28 years of waiting I finally got to see the battle between Anakin and Obiwan, hard to dislike that

3. A New Hope : When I first saw this as a 9 years old, I don't think I blink once during the entire two hours, out of fear of missing anything.

4. Attack Of The Clones : Always was a huge fans of the troopers and here they were giving me a huge battle with thousands of them, was in trooper heaven

5. The Phantom Menace : After 16 years was so much fun to see Star wars back on the big screen, plus real Jedi this time as well in their prime

6. Return Of The Jedi : Was always the weakest one for me, even back in 1983

I enjoy them all, I like Star Wars but that is how I rank them

And Jobs never said he invented the mouse - his mandate was to produce a one-button mouse that was inexpensive to manufacture. And it's obvious that there were portable MP3 players before the iPod.

That's not luck. That's making intelligent business decisions based on the information you have at the time. Lassiter gives plenty of credit to Jobs and it's been frequently reported that Jobs' management of Pixar mellowed him a bit and he was far more hands off than he was with Apple, but not distant, as he frequently attended meetings there.

I've always had a theory that Jobs, Gates, Zuckerberg and people like them have borderline Asperger's. This permits them to have relentless focus and accomplish great things, but also makes them immune to the feelings of others. It also explains some of the arrogance, especially from Jobs and why both Jobs and Gates went through periods in their lives when they didn't take very good care of their personal hygiene - Jobs because he thought if he just ate nuts and other natural raw foods, he would not generate body odor and Gates because he was too busy to think about it. Gates was famous for showing up to a Newsweek (or maybe it was Time) photoshoot with a ripped sweater and sweat marks in his armpits. Jobs mellowed a bit after NEXT was a failure, when he ran Pixar and as he developed a close working relationship with Jonathan Ive, and Gates mellowed a bit after he got married and since he retired from Microsoft and has been running his foundation.

However, I disagree with your assessment that Jobs "stole" ideas. As I wrote above, it's a myth that Apple stole from Xerox Parc. They paid for that intellectual property and heavily modified it to turn it into a successful commercial product. What Apple has stolen on occasion are trademarks.

In any case, the Jobs haters make Lucas haters seem rational. Love him or hate him, Jobs created the world's most valuable brand and the most successful consumer products company in spite of constant heavy criticism like the following, just to list a few:

John C. Dvorak, 1984:

"The Macintosh uses an experimental pointing device called a
'mouse'. There is no evidence that people want to use these things. I
don’t want one of these new fangled devices."

The Economist, Feb 1995:

"[Apple] seems to have two options. The first is to break itself up,
selling the hardware side. The second is to sell the company outright."

former Apple VP Gaston Bastiaens, Jan 1996

"Within the next two months, Sony will acquire Apple. … Sony will be the white knight who will step into the picture."

Michael Dell, October 1997:

"I'd shut [Apple] down and give the money back to the shareholders."

Hiawatha Bray, Boston Globe, 1998:

"The iMac will only sell to some of the true believers. The iMac doesn’t include a floppy disk drive for doing file backups or sharing of data. ... The iMac will fail. "

Michael S. Malone 10/5/2000:

"Apple R.I.P."

Cliff Edwards 5/21/2001:

"Commentary: Sorry, Steve: Here's Why Apple Stores Won't Work -- New retail outlets aren't going to fix Apple's sales"

Bill Ray (Mobile) 12/23/2006:

"Why the Apple phone will fail and fail badly"

Matthew Lynn 1/14/2007:

"Apple iPhone Will Fail in a Late, Defensive Move

John Dvorak 3/28/2007:

"Apple should pull the plug on the iPhone. Commentary: Company risks its reputation in competitive business."

Christopher Versace (Fortune) 11/6/2012:

"The Trouble with Apple's iPad Mini"

Thanks for posting that. I thought about posting some of that info and realized the type of person that I dealing with was not worth it, so I kept my reply to PeterTHX short and sweet.

As far my fav Star Wars movies and the ones that I continue to watch:

1. Empire Strikes Back Despecialized
2. A New Hope Despecialized
3. Return of the Jedi Despecialized
4. Revenge of the Sith

Ok for me it goes from best to worst:

The Empire Strikes Back
A New Hope
Return Of The Jedi
Revenge Of The Sith
The Phantom Menace
Attack Of The Clones

The Phantom Menace used to be my least favourite but in recent years I've started to like it more than Attack Of The Clones.

Empire Strikes Back (original)
Star Wars (original)
Return of the Jedi (original)

The PT does not exist to me and I will not allow them in my house. In fact I'm going to wait 20 years to show my kids so they hate them as much as me.

Default Started re-watch after about 1 year

so I decided to start re watching the series again.

First time I watched it, was when the blu ray was release and saw it in this order:

Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clone
Revenge of the Sith
A New Hope
Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi

This time I am doing this:
A New Hope
Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clone
Revenge of the Sith

Already watched A New Hope over the weekend. Maybe I should really go traditional and wait 4 years and watch Empire Strikes Back and so on...

@24 is right - thats what Ive always thought! Star Wars will always have a tiny edge over Empire for me despite Empire probably being the better film. If that makes sense!

Star Wars will always be my favourite because it's such a fun ride and the story's not interdependent on watching any of the others, it's almost a standalone movie in that respect.

I also like how many people are putting TPM over AotC. It seems now that the 'trend' to hate Phantom Menace has declined, more people are realizing that it isn't a bad movie. Yes, it has Jar Jar and Midichlorians, but it also has the best lightsaber sequence in all six movies, the only real space battle in the Prequels (seriously, with all of the experimenting with CGI, we couldn't get a space battle as epic as the Battle of Endor!?), and Duel of the Fates.

Clones is just a mess when Obi-Wan or Dooku aren't on screen.

The Clone Wars TV series, however, is awesome and redeems AotC a lot. Anakin is actually likeable in the series, and the storytelling is much better than the Prequels overall. Plus, we actually get some kick-ass space battles!

Not sure why it was ever there. It was given the best reviews of the PQ Trilogy by the major critics. Grossed way more than the other two pieces of junk and had a lot more repeat business. I always felt it was the best of those three...at least it felt a little like Star Wars.....other than Binks.

Been saying that for years. It can stand on it's own. It could have never had another film after it and would still be in the top 15 domestic films of all time list.

"On second thought, maybe it's not as horrible as Attack of the Clones" isn't exactly a ringing endorsement

(totally agree about The Clone Wars btw...I just finished season three and have been very glad I took a flier on the 1-5 set during a B&N sale a while back)

Same to you buddy.

Still doesn't change the fact that Jobs was not responsible for making Pixar the movie making powerhouse it is.
