Interesting theory.
Am I a hater if I don't think you should have to try and rationalize away terrible story telling?

Interesting, but probably giving Lucas too much credit.

The worst love scene of all time. This is just one of many that would need to be cut completely out of the film.

Star Wars moves like a rocket, but adding more Dewbacks, extra shots of the Falcon taking off and a redundant Jabba The Hutt scene just collectively pours concrete in its boots.

There is no doubt that original versions of them are going to be released now that Disney is pulling the strings, and probably won't surprise anyone that they will be very popular, especially if they spring for 4K scans, which Lucas certainly didn't.
There has been some kind of 4K remastering done for the OT by Reliance Media. Now whether it's for the OUT, the '97 special edition, or both, still remains to been seen.

Thanks for that! Had heard whispers that the elements had been overhauled, but nice to find they are true. Here's hoping that they are the "unbuggered-about-with" editions.

As much as I hate the 97 SE at least I could live with it moreso than the current versions. Han not shooting first is not the worst thing although bad. The two worst abominations are:

Hayden in Jedi
Boba Fetts voice change....

The beans were spilled when the work was posted on an employee's resume on the Reliance site. Shortly after the chatter about it, it was yanked.

One of the higher ups probably walked by, saw it posted and said, "Hey, what the hell are you doing? You're not supposed to have that up, it's supposed to be a secret. Take it down!"

1997 Special Editions
Episode 4 -some of the CGI dog fight shots during the end battle of Yavin
Episode 5 -Reducing the visibility of matte boxes in the asteroid sequence
Episode 6 -shot of Banthas at the start of the Sarlaac Pit sequence

2004 Special Editions
Episode 4 - The Jabba that looks better than in the 1997 edition-scene is still not needed though.
Episode 5 - ???????????? Don't like any of the changes. Emperor scene could have been better if they had just stuck to the original dialogue
Episode 6 - Fixing the background projection and matte lines in the Rancor sequence

2011 Special Editions
Episode 4 - Nothing
Episode 5 - Nothing
Episode 6 -Nothing[/QUOTE]

All I needed, was one shot of "NOOOOOOOO!!!" which I saw online, and I noped out. Was done with it. Could take no more. So I didn't watch it, and technically I've never seen the theatrical release version even though I own it now.

Oh and for what it's worth, and granted I watched the l8wrtr edit, Episode III is my favorite of the prequels.

It does say 16-bit, maybe they're doing a 4k restoration of the Super Star Wars Trilogy for Super Nintendo?
