And now, a purchase seems unlikely.

Look at this: http://badassdigest.com/2015/04/09/h...ar-wars-story/

Long story short, that 4K of A NEW HOPE seems to be real with Han shooting first and color tweaks but it's being withheld.

According to his sources, hmmmmmm. Still, could be the Disney vault restoration I hoped for.

According to his sources. His story seems very, very plausible.

If true, they're obviously saving it for something. The question is when.

It absolutely does. Any property they purchased, meaning every property Marvel owned, they can do with whatever they please. They assumed full control of all Marvel properties.

Marvel did not own the Spiderman Film Franchise property however, and since they did not own it it was never theirs to sell. Sony did, and still does. It was, and remains so to this day, a Sony property. While Disney did gain full control of all Marvel assets / properties, they did not gain full control of all Sony properties by buying Marvel. They also didn't gain full control of Ford Motor Company, Apple, and Microsoft by purchasing Marvel. Shocking, I know.

I also do not know how you could be so dumb. Such a simple concept.

Keep up the good work.

Well, it's near crunch time for buying the bundle (almost certainly at Vudu for Ep IV UV + others DMA). On the one hand, it's clearly overpriced even at $90; I just saw the Complete Saga BD set in the up-front display at Walmart for that price. (I paid $63 for my used one over 3 years ago at GoHastings.) OTOH, thanks to the apparent "split rights" issue I pointed out earlier (i.e., Fox physical/Disney digital for all but Ep IV till 2020), I seriously doubt we'll see a BD set with code slips before 2020, unless it's Ep IV only or perhaps the UOT. Not to mention Disney hardly drops the price of its most popular titles after the initial sale; Star Wars certainly falls in that category, and it's streaming (for good and for bad). Right now I'm leaning towards skipping it, but any ideas?

Three pages of arguing that comes down to a semantic debate over what the term "total control" means. How fun.

Devin Faraci is a jerk by the way. Super arrogant and refuses to admit fault.

Original Unaltered Trilogy 4K remasters on Blu-ray... December 2015.* Mark your calendars.

*Obviously I am just make a guess on when it will be released but it seems so logical to put it out right as the new film arrives.

I have full control of this thread now.

Apart from the last 35 pages, which that other guy owned before I entered the picture.

For the 4K release Han is going to duck, fall to the floor, double roll and then pop up blow Greedo's head clean off.

I'm relieved that they didn't alter the Han/Greedo scene. Like Balthazar_Bee said, if they HAD changed the scene back, it would suggest that they were not planning an UOT release at all but were offering a small concession to fans who criticize the altered editions.

This pretty much reconfirms what I thought-- it was an easy way to offer the completed HD editions used for the Blu-Ray set to a market of people who buy digital downloads. Nothing more, nothing less.

I still fully expect to hear about an HD restoration of the UOT. The only question is when-- in time to be purchased and viewed before Episode VII or a later date.

Why not just rip your own DVDs and BD's to digital format? I have done that with several of my films.

I think you're going to end up being right. It'll be a set that might include the theatrical cuts and the special editions.

There's been a lot of talk about this possible reversal of the Han/Greedo encounter, and I posted already a few times about those Sebastian Shaw pins they'll be handing out at celebration, but I've also come across something else I've found interesting. Here's a scene from one of the new Marvel Star Wars comics (which you really should check out by the way, they're pretty damn good.):

If you look in the background, you'll see Sy Snootles standing there, but notice that she looks much more like the original puppet from '83 with the feather on top of her head rather than the CG version of '97.
