Right, but the mere intention to release something in two years means they have a plan "at this time"; at least that was my understanding Star Wars brings analytical skills out of me I haven't used since college.

We've heard "we have no plans at present" to titles released months later and I doubt Disney Movies Anywhere, would have a clue anyway. With studios it's not "a plan" until they issue a press release!

At the moment I can't see them doing anything to detract from The Force Awakens' second teaser. They'll let that settle, before moving onto their next phase and probably bombard us with 3D releases and the original trilogy!

I sincerely hope we get at least Episodes II and III released theatrically in 3D. I loved seeing Phantom Menace on the big screen in 3D and would happily re-purchase all three movies again on 3D Blu-ray despite having them all on DVD and Blu-ray already. Don't really care much for having the old films in 3D and I haven't even bought the existing Blu-rays anyway; I'm happy with my DVDs until we get the UOT, if ever. I'm one of those damn millenials who loves the prequels as much as the originals

Why are folks assuming that a social media intern speaking for Disney Movies Anywhere (a digital streaming service) answering a question about digital versions of the theatricals has butt all to do with a possible physical release?

Obviously, a physical release of the UOT would be the way they would do it as they are going for the audience that would want to purchase a package based quite a bit on nostalgia.

A Disney Movies Anywhere intern isn't going to have a clue about overall release plans throughout the company (much less be authorized to speak on it - this is Disney, folks) and would only have access to information about digital streaming releases, just like the question asked and was specifically answered was about...digital streaming.

But I know, if folks actually read the things before jumping to conclusions it wouldn't be Our Favorite Star Wars thread.

If he hasn't got a clue then he hasn't got the right to answer!
He could just say, "I don't know".

edit: Oh, i see now. You say he replied about digital versions, so that doesn't rule out physical versions.

While I seriously doubt they would ever do that, it would be pretty cool-- plus, a lot of people would buy multiple copies-- think about it: The UOT would be the "default," and they you'd click the boxes for each Special Edition onward alteration you want.

Tons of people would buy both the complete UOT version and then their own customized version with selective enhancements (like I want to leave in the Cloud City windows or something).

"there are no plans at this time" is universal business code for "we haven't had an official announcement."

It really doesn't mean anything one way or another if they actually have a set in the works or any plans.

He is referring to "DIGITAL RELEASES" of the UOT. He does not specify physical BD's at all.

I'm not expecting anything on the UOT until it's time to release the 9 film triple-trilogy box set in 2019.

Because reasons...

JJ doesn't care.

Unless someone built one to look exactly like it.

Then again, Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy also did this, so who really knows...

Default Rebels Season 1 Blu ray release?

I find it odd that there is no thread or discussion about Rebels, it seemed to be a very popular show and the new trailer for Season 2 was epic yet still no word on Season 1 being released on blu ray or DVD? Does anybody know when it might be released?

I'm sure there's a thread for it in the television section. When it's announced for BD it will get a thread here, which I am sure will happen at some point before season 2 airs.

My player upscales really well too, and a lot of my DVDs look great on it, but the Star Wars non-anamorphic LD ports just don't hold up.

When promoting The Phantom Menace before its release in 1999, George Lucas said "We've seen Jedi as old men or not fully trained men, now we will see Jedi in their prime fighting"

But here's the thing... Palatine and Dooku were old men in the prequels, yet they are doing flips and fighting full force. WTF George, WTF! They should have fought just as low-key as Obi-Wan and Vader fought in Episode IV.

Why does every single thing out of his mouth have to be a contradiction?

Many movies nowadays put flash before plot, unfortunately.

Perhaps it's the light saber that Luke eventually built himself???

On a tangent for a bit: I just came across a 4K2K UHDTV at a department store an hour ago, which got me wondering, could Episode 7 be one of the first UHDBD releases when it comes time for its home video debut?

Avengers Age Of Ultron may come out with UHDBD first.

Star Wars E7 seems more likely if UHD doesn't launch by December.

Do we already have a media format suitable for UHD data sizes?
