While some of the art for the Complete Saga was absolutely terrible like the collage of all the characters (which has such bad likenesses even Shout would baulk at using it for a custom cover) I like that we got characters on the discs on the UK version. It was a digistack rather than the book design too.

I like the book design of the US set, since the discs are held in easy to access grab-from-the-top style things like in the Alien Anthology, not the horrible sleeve design of Indiana Jones or whatever. The art on each book style page is cool too.

Both look like fine sets though IMO, and better than a huge Darth Vader image IMO.

Agreed, the UK had the better physical design by far compared to the paper-envelope approach of its US counterpart. Still, I much rather would have a 9-disc Viva Elite case inside a slipbox instead of the digistack because I don't quite trust the adhesive tape holding the spines of each disc's holder to last over the years.

Also, some of the characters chosen for each disc's art weren't optimal. Since it appears that the main 3 characters weren't available (presumably due to likeness royalties), I would've put a Stormtrooper on the ESB disc instead of Chewie and then put Chewie on the OT bonus disc instead of Lando.

That said, I really wish that they would've had the new Darth Vader image for the Saga set in the first place instead of the lame-ass Lil' Ani watercolor crap that was actually used in 2011.

Digistacks aren't known for their duability either, especially the glue holding the plastic trays together. Pick your poison basically!

I would prefer individual cases, maybe black or clear amarays. (then I could insert the old special features DVDs)

Actually, Peter Jackson is worse than ol' George. How many times and versions of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit does that man want you to buy?

Right now, all I want is the unaltered original trilogy on Blu-ray, then I kinda just want to walk away from this series. I'm not crazy about Star Wars becoming like the MCU.

I ended up importing the UK version because IMO it's the lesser of two evils.

Are any of the theatrical versions of Jackson's Tolkien films impossible to buy now? No? Then there's no comparison.

What on earth are you talking about? There are the theatrical editions and the extended editions of all 6 movies (well, Battle of the Five Armies won't be out for another couple of months). That's it. He hasn't been constantly tinkering with them and if (for whatever reason) you wanted the theatrical cuts, they're readily available.

I'll give you when they came out with the new documentary a while ago when they offered the set with the flip-disc of both versions, but there haven't been any major new features on the LotR Blu-rays.

When I was a kid I would often daydream that I was secretly a jedi and that Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers would come to my school looking for me, and I would heroically save the day after an epic fight. That was before Return of the Jedi even came out yet. That sweet 3-year gap when it seemed to me like the world's balance was teetering on the outcome of that Empire Strikes Back's bittersweet ending.

That time is gone, I grew up, realized I was a dumbass, and stopped caring about something that all along was merely a brainwashing tool used to steal my own identity from me and sell it back to me as an action figure, lunchbox, bedsheet, electric toothbrush, backpack, notebook, shoes, shirts, jammies, fruit snacks, beach towel, board game, video game, comic book, over and over again until I was just mouth-breathing consumer drone.

*cough*Harmy's DeEd*cough*
I think it's crazy to complain about Peter Jackson's insistence on releasing a series of extended cuts like he did with the LotR series... with 17,453 additional hours of quality, extra footage (especially, in this case, when considering the original, unaltered cuts were also available for purchase separately). The pea green tint shat all over the Fellowship extended cut on BD is another thing altogether, though...

Imagine if Han's Mom and Dad took Chewie to get neutered in ESB, to be on the safe side. That's pretty much what happened with me and my Chewie when I was in 3rd grade. Really freaked me out, really blew my mind out. Freaked my dog out too. Do you think Chewie would've gotten neuticles?

Food for thought man.

It's not an envelope design, it's a cardboard disc tray with smooth coating. That's a perfectly fine way to house a disc. The envelope style is horrible, but I think Indiana Jones is the only set I own that uses that. I know the Die Hard box does, which is one reason I got the individual releases.

Oh, and his death? Speculated spinoff film says hi. While it is currently said to be an origin story, I could see it becoming something after ROTJ. And the expanded universe, which supports the idea of him escaping in numerous different Star Wars timelines. And if you don't believe the talk of a spinoff, here's some articles.
Boba is dead, end of story. Lucas killed him at the pit. You can't just decide after 30+ years that he is alive and well. Plus, if it ain't Lucas bringing him back directly, it doesn't count.

BTW, I wish Jackson would become like Lucas. Then Jackson might decide to give us the real version of The Hobbit. A 4 hour movie that encompasses the tale from the books rather than that sloppy piece of **** filler that Jackson puked out 9 hours for us.

Fanfiction. It wasn't done by Lucas himself, so it doesn't count.

Past and current canon policy at Lucasfilm itself would disagree.

since the new script for episode VII isn't using the one from Lucas does that mean it isn't fan fiction? even though Lucas authorized the EU?
