The logner shot of Luke upon looking at Obi-Wan is the only thing I prefer from the orignal unaltered ending. The 1997 version is the best of both words, no Hayden Christensen and new improved music.

Never? When you guys use language like that, it makes me think you're upset LucasFilm now has a parent company, and even more upset that parent is the Walt Disney Company. Never will? Lucasfilm will never be able to buy out or horsetrade a simple distribution clause? Like Disney will never get the Oswald cartoons back, Marvel will never be able to use Spider-Man in their Disney-distributed films, Lucas would never sell his independent company to Disney, DreamWorks would never hang their live-action hat at Disney...never is a very long time.

I'm not buying this.

I just want Episode 4, 5 and 6 in their original Theatrical form, without crappy 1998 CGI, new scenes, new music or Hayden ghosts.

Sorry, not buying this at all.

Take out Jabba in ANH
Han shoots first
No annoying singing in Jabba's palace
No Hayden in ROTJ
Add back the original ending of ROTJ
etc.

Things they can keep are:
The expanded exterior view of Cloud City
Palapitine in TESB
The Wampa, maybe. (Seeing it can be cool, but then again it might be more suspenseful not seeing it)
The scene with Biggs in ANH

They can call it the "Disney Special Edition" and throw out all the other SE versions.

A double pack like that would be awesome. The unaltered version, and the enchanted version.
If they want to include Palpatine in Empire they should bring Ian McDiarmid in again and give him makeup that looks more like the Emperor in RotJ. Seeing Episode III Palpatine in Empire doesn't improve the continuity at all.

Special Edition ending to Jedi blows. Yanni-esque new age crap flute music, Horrible let's stand in front of a green screen group shots (thinking of Cloud City in particular) to show how the galaxy is reacting (which seems silly that it would happen so quickly, but hey Georgie had to be relevant and ape the fall of the Soviet Union), and then you have that goofy sinister look on Young Anakin's face.

Was the original ending flawed yes. But just like the originally flawed Lapti Nek getting replaced with Jedi Rocks!, Lucas found a way to make something flawed almost unbearable.

I'm still not convinced that Williams wrote the ending Victory Celebration in the special edition.
Maybe his son (Joseph Williams) did (he has helped him other times with more modern stuff, like the techno music in Artificial intelligence and source cues in Star Wars. It seems more plausible to me).
Though this listing here says John Williams wrote it.
But still I am not convinced.

I think Williams wrote it, but I think Lucas was like hey Jazzy Johnny, I was hanging out at Bed Bath Beyond at the Galleria a few weeks ago and loved that soothing soft flute music demo I pushed while checking out sleep masks and memory foam slippers. You think you could re-do the end music to Jedi so the audience leaves the theater ready to take a nap!

Maybe I should say the music isn't flawed, but the puppetry is terrible. Still I'll take muppets with visible strings over CGI that wouldn't even fly as a Playstation 1 cut scene. Plus the puppets were for 10 seconds, whereas Joe Cocker Yuzzum and cutesty Snootles went on for 1 and a half minutes.

The "revisions Lucas made in the '90ies" were never released on optical disc. What came on DVD were further revisions in 2004, and then even more revisions in 2011 on Blu-ray. The 1997 version has only been on VHS.

The revision on digital is from 2011. The current BD release is also the 2011 revision.

So if you buy the Blu-rays, you are not getting the 90s revisions.

That was probably me been confused when another member said the BDs were just blue disc art, my noggin' went straight to Disney blue disc art. That was all cleared up, although if the old disc art is present I wouldn't describe it as blue, I thought they were white with a blue line through them? ... hence my confused status!

2006 "Limited Edition" DVDs had them as a second bonus disc. There's also the VHS and LaserDisc.

Some people opt to use Harmy for an HD version, but it's only 720p and not legally obtained.

I'm waiting with baited breath, in the hopes that someday Disney will release them on Blu-ray Disc. But who knows if that day will ever come.
