Star Wars: The Complete Saga (1977-2005)

Go find Harmy's de-specialized editions of the original trilogy, download them, watch them... then watch Force Awakens.

Skip the prequels, skip the Special Editions.

You'll go straight to the good stuff and leave the other junk behind.

I still need to watch the Harmy versions as I had no luck finding them. I've seen screenshot comparisons to the BDs and they look so much better by comparison in terms of color and shadow detail (aside from obviously being the original films).

They're pretty easy to find; you just need to know where to look.

1) They completely ignored George Lucas and never sought his advice for the new movies and spin-off's as per Lucas himself. After Lucas' fiascos, he's become persona non grata with all things Star Wars. He even looked miffed on the red carpet for the premiere of the new film.

2) JJ has smacked around the prequels a time or two. Even joking that they could put Jar Jar in the new films as either his bones or just to kill him off quickly. The prequels and SE's are a joke and people my age (like JJ) who grew up on the original unaltered films usually agree.

3) There was no love loss between writer Larry Kasdan and Lucas due to creative differences: one reason he left the project before Return of the Jedi started filming. Ex-producer Gary Kurtz has told many a story about the behind the scenes strife once Lucas decided to get more involved with ROTJ and their disdain for the prequels.

Abrams just said he enjoyed the prequels. It's OK for you to not like them. You don't need it validated.

Also, you and your friends and some people on the Internet don't represent all of us old enough to have seen the originals in the theater. People will like th OT, some will like the prequels (with their many problems) and will also like the new movie.

If you're balanced, you'll come out unscathed.

All that's been released is him saying he enjoyed it and he thinks the fans will, too. Right?

The only thing I've read (on these forums) of Lucas not liking TFA is people trying to read between the lines. Probably for something that isn't there.

I think he's probably quite skeptical about the whole philosophy of Disney and where they're going but as far as I'm aware he liked this one.

Like we've been saying: get the Harmy de-specialized editions and you'll have something to watch until an official restoration of the OT gets released.

I think he just said the fans will like it. That's all I read anyway. I kind of took it as a back-handed compliment, sort of like the AV Club review talking about how it's basically A New Hope again, which is what "cranky old fans" want.

Don't listen to this guy completely. Watch the despecialized editions. They are very good. Watch the prequels because one of them (ROTS) is better than one from the original trilogy (ROTJ) and the other prequels are not that bad and should be watched and the original trilogy is not some holy grail of cinema. Now get to work.
