Well he's an idiot. Especially with his tinkering of THX1138 - completely unnecessary and detracts from what was a great film.

Also the same with Spielberg re-editing ET to turn the bad guys guns into lollypops.

Same as Huck Finn being rewritten to be more politically correct.

A movie (and novel) exists as a snapshot in time - for F sakes, leave it that way, flaws and all!

Ewan McGregor was a fan. Not because of his Uncle but because of the films. He went to the movie just to see his Uncle but got a whole new experience after it was over.

I had never heard the story that Portman was pushed to do Star Wars by her agent. She was already an up and coming critically acclaimed young starlet with Leon, Everyone Says I Love You, Beautiful Girls and her small role in Michael Mann's Heat.

Indeed he was. Especially since his Uncle was in the OT. Remember Wedge Antilles?

Also:

"Blue screen work is very, very difficult. What was fun about Big Fish was, that we did all these tricks, but did them there on the day, rather than rely on green screen. You can't do that with a Star Wars because you're in outer space and you can't shoot that without using computers," he says laughingly.

Yet as hard as it might be shooting a Star Wars, McGregor says there is still much he has taken from that experience. "It is the wonder in the children's eyes that I felt when I felt as a kid watching the original films when they come up to you ask you what it was like to cut Darth Maul in half or turning your light sabre on. It reminds me of how I felt when I was six years old so to be a part of that is a real treat." And McGregor has no regrets.

Hell, Carrier Fisher was so high all the time when making ANH that she probably doesn't even remember it.

The only actor I have ever heard really disgruntled over Star Wars was Alec Guiness. Who made children cry he was so bitter.

This is his way of slaying that demon. And he's going to do it his way, no matter what the fans think of the entire situation.

I wouldn't care if he released a revised version of the films every other month, so long as I am given the ability to still view the original trilogy without these terrible alterations in a current form of technology.... anamorphically. Yeah, he's an artist and has a right to continue to refine his vision, but I really don't want CGI Jabba in ANH and the "Fraggle Rock" music number in "Return of the Jedi". I can't even put these films into the DVD player, because I know I'm going to have to shut my eyes and ears off at certain parts to prevent from vomiting all over myself in disgust. That's no way to watch a movie. Who needs the hassle? So I end up reaching for "Fletch" instead.

If only those Star Wars DVDs were anamorphic, I'd keep my mouth shut and never say another bad thing about Lucas. But he chose to slap us in the face and laugh at us instead. Industrial Lights and Magic can create entire worlds of fantasy but can't figure out how to make a DVD anamorphic? Give me a break.

Therefore, I continue to kick dirt on him every chance I get. He's more money than man now...twisted and evil.

Yep. That's on the Phantom Menace DVD also. It was during filming they were making the sound effects.

Lucas after a cut jokingly reminded them that they put the sound effects in later.

Yeah I read that too, he even told people not too watch it becasue it was so bad. Now my question is Why the hell did he come back for V and VI then? I wonder what his deal was, he has certainly been in worse roles.

Yeah that is on one of the "making of's" on the DVD I thought that was funny.

Yeah. what I read I tihnk was that they didn't catch it until Post-Production and he (McGregor) actually did it during some of the fights in the movie and they had to mute it.

He really seemed to only get incredibly bitter way afterwards.

When people were only wanting to talk about his role as Obi-Wan, and not any of his other roles.

Yeah, he thought during filming that the whole movie was a bit corny. But so did most of the cast.

This scene has nothing to do with an encode or authoring. That may be the case but neither process will FIX this error.

Makes Sense, kind of like Connery and Brosnan not wanting to only talk about Bond, Ford with Han and Indy etc etc.. but still they are not bitter about it. I guess it was just the old age.

When you make children cry because they love you as Obi-Wan, it goes beyond being bitter. It's being an ass.

Especially since kids arn't likely to have seen many of his other films. Bridge on the River Kwai? Unlikely.
