I’m at Best Buy right now about to buy The Complete Saga. Never thought I’d throw in the towel, but I’ll give this whole thing a try.

Well I guess this makes all the 2020 and distribution rights discussions completely moot.

Now I guess Disney can just do a re-release with Fox logos intact any time they damn well feel like it. Hopefully this is sooner rather than later.

Eh... I mean it's your money, but every single title except for Revenge of the Sith has issues both with content and the picture quality. If I hadn't already bought them a while ago, at this point I'd be waiting for new 4k versions.

Me and a friend watched my Blu-Ray versions recently, mainly because he hadn't seen the films since they were in theaters (yes, he hadn't watched the originals since seeing the Special Editions in theaters in 1997). He had zero interest in seeing Episode I again, but we watched the rest in machete order because I've been meaning to try that for a while now.

Afterward I decided I no longer had any desire to revisit the revised editions of the films again. It's original versions for me for the classic films, whether Disney finally comes around and does a proper restoration or I have to go with the despecialized editions.

Don't do it. You will hate yourself for all eternity. You will wake up at night in terror knowing it is in your house. Hell, you won't even be able to be near sand ever again.

Well, I haven’t opened it up yet so I still have the option to return it.

What are the content problems with the Blu-rays (besides the special edition changes)?

I have the complete saga...three bonus discs and nice packaging for whenever I get around to burning my Despecialized Editions. All arranged in Machete Order (I put Ep1 after the bonus discs), too.

Only reason I bought that, at a steep discount, was to create mint copies of this:

Hidalgo mentioned in another tweet that he thinks it's a matter of people respecting Lucas's wishes, so probably not.

If they respect his wishes why did they throw out his treatments for future episodes and create their own stories?

Ask Hidalgo about it, not me.

I’m having trouble trying to decide whether to keep my Complete Saga set or return it back to Best Buy. D:

Return it. I only bought my copy for the supplements - the original trilogy deleted scenes - most of which you can find on the net.

THE PHANTOM MENACE: DNR.

ATTACK OF THE CLONES: Teal & orange cast and some revised editing done to it (scenes re-arranged). The opening speeder chase with Zam Wesell and Dooku's escape.

You already know about the issues with episodes IV -VI.

REVENGE OF THE SITH has been best served by this set - restoring the wipe - as Anakin crawls up the ash slope after being immolated.

Do the DVDs of episodes 1 and 2 look better than the Blu-rays?

It's been a while since I viewed the DVD's.

THE PHANTOM MENACE has the original creepy Yoda puppet.*

The ATTACK OF THE CLONES doesn't have the sh*tty re-editing or the teal & orange cast.

* Replaced with CGI Yoda for the 2011 Blu-ray box set.

AOTC looks better on BD (warts an' all) but the DVD still looks decent.

TPM on the other hand looks terrible on DVD. Even with the heavy DNR, the BD is still a huge improvement.

Is it true Ep II was shot on low quality digital?

If I recall it was shot on the first 1080p digital camera for cinema so it's always been softer. However, last time I watched the BD I thought it looked 'okay' - maybe have to revisit it soon. If we had to rate or compare Ep 1-6 boxset transfer qualities, I would place it at least second to Sith as far as transparency to the source. The other four movies are jacked one way or another.
