I wouldn't say the physical market is all but dead but yeah, it's definitely declining and the people interested in a BD release of the UOT are a fraction of a fraction of that declining market.

A UOT release would probably generate decent revenues but the people who think it would be a license to print money are thinking with their hearts and not their heads.

Stuff that doesn't require extensive restoration and remastering and that people would buy in large numbers. Like say the latest Star Wars movie or the next Avengers movie or the next Avatar.

There's still money to made from blu-ray and Disney almost certainly wouldn't lose money on a UOT release but they wouldn't get rich off one either.

Put it in a giant boxed set so that the only way to get it is in the set. That’s fine. If the restoration is done and done CORRECTLY, there’s virtually no price within reason that I wouldn’t pay for the OUT.

I think it's about 50% spite and 50% delusional belief that he can improve on his work from 30 years ago.

On a side note, it's a damn shame that a non-anamorphic DVD based off of a circa-1993 Laserdisc transfer is the best available copy of the OT that hasn't been tainted by Lucas' precipitous late-career creative decline and incomprehensible stubbornness. If there was a tribunal for crimes against cinema, he'd be in a dock in The Hague by now.

It’s weird thinking of Lucas being a ruthless tyrant who surrounds himself by yes men. In interviews he comes across as passive and sensitive.

Too bad he's not sensitive to the needs of OUT fans.

I have to LOL a little bit, when I see hardcore SW fan message board person talk about Lucas being delusional.
If ever there were a pot/kettle situation, this would be it.
Slays me every time, for years!

Yeah, I can see him surrounded by "no" men. Since when Interviews are meant to be representative of a true person's character? Have you heard of PR, acting? Looking grumpy and unfriendly is not something most people under the spotlight would like to display.

There are so many famous people I used to think they were Ok guys due to the interviews and over the years they fell down a hole and in the news for all the wrong reasons

It was shot on very early digital cameras that produced an image that Lucas deemed "too sharp" so it was softened in post-production.

That's why it looks the way it does.

No, it's 100% the desire to improve his movies however he sees fit no matter what other people think. He's doing it for himself, as he should.

This idea that he's revising his work out of spite to hurt/upset you (or anyone) in particular is ridiculous. Then again, so is trashing and cursing a guy for doing what he wants with what's his.

Which fans? Those that like the changes? Those that don't like them? Those that are indifferent to them?

No, his role was not reduced. He simply didn't have a role to play in the story moving forward. Yet, despite all that, he still managed to get a role that didn't need to be played by that character in particular. He expanded Jar Jar's role despite the hate by some people. Not the opposite.

Yes, now the dodging effect is more subtle. The scene remains the same.

I can see the argument for using CG where they couldn't previously, and things of that nature, but if Greedo was supposed to shoot first why was it ever filmed differently?

If people could walk into a store and choose between the unaltered OT and the special editions, which one would sell better?

What’s the 35mm version of Attack of the Clones?

I'm sure this has been asked here before, but I'm not going to go through all these pages.

For someone who's never seen a Star Wars film, what would be the best order to show them all in? Just curious.

The original versions of 4, 5, and 6, and then 1, 2, and 3.
