Solo was an okay movie, I guess. I wish we saw the fun version that Lord and Miller made, opposed to the slogfest we got when Ron Howard was called into boring the whole thing up.

I didn't find it boring at all. Different strokes I suppose.

I just wish the THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK cover didn't look like an old faded VHS that had been left on the video store rack that faces the sun all afternoon. Never a big fan of these color-coded "everything washed with the same shade" approaches. But the art itself is nice. Interestingly, it really de-emphasizes Lucas' idea that the first six movies were the Anakin/Vader story. And the Emperor is non-existent --
[Show spoiler]which doesn't bode well for how big or small his role might be in RISE
.

1, 4, 5, & 6 were shot in 35mm so there's no point. 2 and 3 were shot at 2K so that would be beyond pointless.

Why is it such a big deal? Aren’t the digital copies available for sale for a while now?

Yeah, for the same price as buying the BDs last time I checked. That's Disney for you.

By that logic, every catalog title should be out of print then.

Oh come on, it's not just Disney. You try to buy a new CD lately? For most bands/record companies, the physical product (i.e. the CD) is CHEAPER than buying the digital (which doesn't have manufacturing or distribution costs attached to it).

Makes no sense, but you can't just point out that Disney is bad for charging just as much (or more) for digital than a physical product. It's most companies.

I agree the markup is higher, but it seems to be higher than other studios on Disney's titles whether we're talking catalog or new release.

The banners have to be on there. This is 2019 and not everyone knows that you can watch a digital copy on your tablet, computer and phone.

WB art department: We will have the crappiest looking cover art for home video in all of the land.

Disney art department: Challenge accepted.

The September listings will be Disney’s first repackage of the original films to capitalize on the promotion for Episode IX. Easy money.

The Complete Saga set that digitalbits is reporting for next year will be episodes 7-9 along with 4k remasters of 1-6. The OT will be the special editions since they’re the official canonical versions whether we like it or not. Including the theatrical OT would require 3 extra discs and goes against the official continuity of the saga, and seems unlikely that something as monumental as the theatrical OT would be included as mere “bonus features”. I know George did that before on DVD, but that was a deliberate attempt to undermine those cuts with shoddy laserdisc transfers and make the SE look superior. That isn’t comparable to releasing a 4K restoration on UHD.

If the theatrical versions of the OT ever get released it will have it’s own separate release, not bundled with a “complete saga” set.
Right so far.
