All the Star Wars films are releasing here in a few days. Anything exciting about these releases or is it just for having matching slips or getting a new release out before Disney+ drops?

No one knows for sure. Most think it'll just be a repackage of the old 2011 discs which
I really hope they aren't

Yup it's been 8 years. Those discs have been reissued so many times by FOX
I really hope Disney isn't going to continue that trend. I mean, we know A New Hope was restored 3 years ago because Gareth Edwards mentioned it in a Tweet. Why put out dated transfers when newer ones exists? Assuming new transfers of Empire and Jedi also exist.

Because Episode IX will be hitting home media later on, and that timing makes more sense.

If there was anything truly new and exciting about these new releases, there’s no way there wouldn’t be a huge buzz about it.

Don't forget this will be the first edition to come with digital code slips. Prior releases couldn't come with digital codes because Fox only held disc rights to The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and the PT (and its digital rights to A New Hope were subject to Lucasfilm control), so until now the digital versions of the OT & PT had to be purchased separately from the discs. With both Lucasfilm & Fox now under Disney, that's no longer an issue.

Alas, there's no reason to believe these discs will be any different than the 2011 Fox discs, unless Disney is tinkering with the menus and/or bonus features (like the Signature Collection releases of the 13 or so "vault" titles which mostly use the same transfers as their Diamond Edition releases -- just new menus, a few new bonus features & many of the old ones dropped or moved to digital). If we were gonna see any significant changes this time (like the UOT or new transfers) we woulda heard about it long before now.

Exactly. The only reason these are getting released again is because Disney is able to release all of the digital copies separately for every title.

This is pure speculation on my part, but I am willing to bet we will see at least two box sets in the Spring of 2020. One will be an Saga Set with Episodes 1-9 and the one the other will be a set that includes the two Star Wars Story films. I'd also be willing to bet that these will all have the same discs that have been released on BD. Now, if they do all of these on UHD I am definitely buying these for the upteenth time. However, I will hold my praise until I know new 4K scans are done for the first six films. I, IV, V, VI are in desperate need of new scans. II and III don't need 4K scans, but they might as well if they are doing the rest of them to achieve uniform quality. The best part would be seeing all six of these with HDR/DV.

I have a bad gut feeling that these are simply the 2011 BDs relabeled. It seems that Disney + is also using the same transfers that have been on iTunes and MA and Vudu for the past few years. I would think that if Disney has invested so much money in doing 4K restorations of the Saga that they would have re-issued new blu-rays of those transfers, like WB has for the Batman films (1989-1997) along with new 4K UHDs.

Implying The Rise of Skywalker (can't type that without cringing) will be the final Star wars film?

So once again next week sept 24th we get re releases of all the Starwars movies on........1080P blu-ray? Why ? How many is it now? Come on disney when will we see Star Wars in 4K ? What is the point of 1080P blu-ray that will sit on the racks of Best Buy ,Target and Walmart selling zero or close to it.They wonder why no one seems interested in buying these again. Get your act together Disney 4K discs have been around a while now ,no need to hold back. Indiana Jones, Star Wars ,Star Trek ...where are they? So I heard rumors of Star Wars on 4K latter this year or early 2020.If that's true this is crazy and wasteful to release these titles again. No 4k ,not interested.

I mean, no real big advertising went into the Disney I-VI soundtrack releases despite them being brand new remasters that absolutely destroy the sound quality of all previous soundtrack releases. Not to mention the original trilogy soundtracks were based off the original releases and not the special editions, which is good and bad. Good we got a 192khz Lapti Nek bad that it meant the soundtracks aren't complete

Wouldn't make sense for the current trilogy re-releases to just be the film and a digital copy at their current pre order prices considering previous releases of those included both those things plus hours of bonus material. The Lucas saga is still not available for pre order despite allegedly releasing this Sunday. If it's just old material from 2011 then why aren't they up for pre order.

The big question for me is, will these new releases have the Fox logo at the start of the films?
