I believe it's meant to be a different set of stairs because that contraption on the wall to the right isn't there in the second shot.

The contraption is around the corner. It's literally the exact same hallway as what they walked down moments so I'll never, ever understand why this wasn't caught when they were doing the changes. Then again, I'll never understand why they made such a big deal out of removing the reflection of the snake in the glass in Raiders only to leave in other reflections in the rest of the scene.

PS

Couldn't give a flying **** if Adywan corrected it tho

See, Things like this never made any sense to me. So many of the further revisions made after 1997 were so nonsensical and added nothing to films, yet things like this continued to go unnoticed? There was like 3 major opportunities where they could have fixed this, but George was so busy having giant CGI rocks added in front of R2-D2 that he neglected to notice the dozens of continuity mistakes that were created because of all these inane changes.

Yeah, like the visible garbage mattes in ROTJ's space battle, especially when the TIEs follow the Falcon into's the Death Star's guts. But hey, why fix them when you can change Artoo's bunker freak-out for approximately no reason at all and make the Ewoks blink Like How It Was Always Intended™? Ugh.

That moan said, I hope they finally corrected said shot when they did the 4K resto of Jedi. (I haven't seen it yet, so I wouldn't know)

So here's a question on process.

If the Blu Ray and 4k will be from the same master in the new releases, how would you do it?

For the films needing upscaling, do you upscale first and then colour correct and then downscale back to Blu size for the Blus or do you colour correct first and then use that master for the blu.
Then upscale that colour corrected version for the 4k only and then apply HDR in that order.

Just wondering how they chose to do it.

If you need to uprez something for 4K then it makes no sense to downscale it back down to Blu size when you can just port it across to Blu directly. Upscaling and downscaling could have a detrimental effect on the detail.

I have wondered as to whether the prequels will be getting new BDs using the latest colour timing though, so it's a fair question.

What are the odds that the original trilogy, now in 4K, get released as a set, as they were when they first appeared on blu-ray?

You'd be more likely to win Powerball.

What do you mean by "original trilogy"? Just Episodes IV-VI packaged together, like this release:

Or this:

?

Also, did you mean the original theatrical cuts of those films? Because those were never released on Blu-ray.

Disney looks to be releasing the films on UHD Blu-ray as a single complete set, and standalone, individual film, releases. So you can buy just the first three films, but as three separate individual releases, not a trilogy set. Also, they'll be the altered-in-2014 versions, not original theatrical or even 97 SE or other previous revisions, although the 2014 cut retains most of the revisions, adding some more.

I really wish Disney would address the issue of the OUT already. If it can't be made let them say it so people stop begging for it.

But God bless the Internet, where we can get great (even if not perfect) versions of the OUT, Song of the South, and most anything else.

I’m pretty sure he meant separate packaging. Unaltered stuff won’t be happening, at least by Disney, any time soon...if at all.

I've had the itch to buy the theatrical originals many times. Should have at the time of release but money was short. I do have the tinkered ones in a bluray three pack that I got for $10 exactly what they are worth.

Just bought them on ebay $15 each, not bad.

It's funny in some ways the theatrical DVDs are more important than any Bluray or 4K relelease.

In a Star Wars mood I guess, bought the Skywalker Saga on 4K digital last night.

When it comes to George Lucas it is what it is. He did make a concession once. He's been real testy when asked if he'd ever release it again but you know...people do win the powerball.

Let's hope not! The blu-ray colors were way too bright. I'm hoping it's taken from the 4k versions on Disney+ where they fixed the horrible coloring.

What have they said exactly? Have they said "physically impossible to do it if we wanted to?"
