In the end it´s not the surprises that are great about Star Wars but the story and the way it is told.

Fair enough I do at times can be pretty aggressive to people who have disagreed with me but I don't mean to at all. In the end we are all star wars fans to the very end and we have different opinions on star wars and all of the films. I like all the films some fans don't like all 6 films I understand that. I've talked about this with you for 7 years about the dvd color timing issues and sound mix problems. We know about them my opinion is all of those problems will be fixed for the blu-ray release by LFL and hopefully they will be. You have your view opinions on star wars and I have mine.

Not having the means to watch Star Wars for more than a year because of my stupid broken VHS machine (), has only made me appreciate them even more... It truly is a world beyond worlds.... Sorry if I sound a bit far-fetched, but they really are brilliant to me.

Let's keep the ball rolling on this thread. I heard someone say they were supposed to change Yoda's looks from TPM on the blu rays. Also Luke constructing his light saber at start of RotJ (hopefully just a deleted scene). Anyone have any other rumours for new changes to the movies? Anyone worried about further Lucas changes that could infuriate lovers of the OT even more? Or conversely Lucas taking back a hated change or improving it? Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm only getting 4 5 6, they're the only ones I've ever seen in fully, and in repeated viewings. At this stage I can't bring myself to watch the others. I know the OT has it's problems since Lucas discovered new tech and tinkered with them, but still inherently they are still the the best of the lot to watch.

My recommendation is for Mr. Lucas to reverse his decision about Greedo shooting first/at all. Greedo is a punk, to be sure, but even the punkiest of punks couldn't miss burning a hole in their opponent's face from 2 feet away. Plus it looks horrendous, no matter how "smoothly" ILM can make Han dodge. And lose Jabba. Stupid, stupid scene.

I like the Jabba scene (especially redone as the DVD version), but the only way Greedo can credibly get a shot off and miss is if it's like Johnny Ringo in Tombstone (reaction from a malfunctioning central nervous system caused by severe damage to the brain housing group).

If I see that miserable git Hayden at the end of ROTJ, (especially after sitting through 99% of the saga already) I will personally eject the Blu-ray at Warp Factor 10, throw it on the floor and take an Olympian-class dump on it!!

...

Though probably without the baseball bat...

Maybe I can avoid this frustration by popping the disc in as soon as the box-set arrives, just to check... But then that will ruin the surprise of how the film will look.... Ahhh decisions!

Not looking forward to the the Jabba scene in ANH either. Whereas the 1997 version looked more like the Jabba in ROTJ, the 2004 version looked like a huge green/brown turd that could move.

Greedo scene doesn't bother me too much after the 2004 edit (which was 'marginally' better) though the idea that he could miss Han from point-blank range is ridiculous.

Sorry, i'm having a bad night! I do enjoy a good rant... just get it out of my system... :P

I shall have a go! Though i'm betting Lucas will have each disc dipped into a 'reforming' lotion, a la' our friend in Terminator 2, to 'preserve his vision'

I can't wait to hear some people's disappointment. Really folks don't get your hopes up, if this release is anything like the last few we've got, you're probably not going to like it. We're probably going to see Greedo shoot first, the Jabba scene, and Christensen at the end. I don't know why anyone would expect anything different from this release. If you really got a problem with it, just vote with your money and don't buy it. Lucasfilm will likely release the unaltered version later anyway.

I can see it panning out like this...

2011 Sept - Star Wars SE's released on Blu-ray

2012 - Star Wars SE's released in 3D in the theatres.

2012 - Star Wars SE's released in 3D... on disc.

2012 - Star Wars SE's released in a Blu-ray + 3D Combo Pack.

2012 - Star Wars Original Trilogy released on Blu-ray.

2013 - Star Wars undergoes 'state of the art' restoration. Again.

heh heh

Like I have said before:

Even though I dislike the Jabba/Boba-Fett scene from ANH, I have no problem of it staying in the movie because my awesome 'Chapter Skip button' fixes that problem with no fuss.

Now regarding the Greedo shooting first scene, I also would have no problem if it was left in too, only if ILM adds in a CG waitress that bumps into him causing his blaster to go off accidentally.

lol. I understand what you mean. I know I maybe in the minority with my opinion.

My recommendation was just that. I certainly don't expect Mr. Lucas to change his mind for the better. He may change his mind about things, but if these "changes" closely resemble something worthwhile, it's merely a happy accident. Or maybe the force is with him...

Agreed on both counts. I've actually gotten so accustomed to the whole Greedo thing that it doesn't bother me (much) anymore but that Jabba scene annoys me every time.

Other recommendations for Mr. Lucas:

* "Bring My Shuttle";
* Wampa - less is more;
* "Lapti Nek";
* "Yub Nub";
* Keep Hayden in the prequels; EDIT: The OT - No Hayden allowed.
and last, but not least:
* Please read my sig, Mr. Lucas.

Will this cross his desk? Of course not. Do I feel better? Somewhat. Bring on more recommendations, people. Let's discuss!

Seriously, prepare for disappointment. It's the only way. Greedo will shoot first, Jedi Rocks will kill your will to live, a sloppy blue color filter will lessen each and every shot in the films, and Hayden Christiansen will cameo in Return of the Jedi. These are decisions Lucas made for a reason, and it's illogical to think he will reverse his decisions. He's way too stubborn. I hope I am wrong about this, but I probably ain't.

This is why I am more looking forward to the extras and the PT (which I enjoy) than I am the OT films on Blu-ray.

We are all Star Wars fans here, some have a different perspective of the films and that can be due to many reasons. But one thing I personally think all Star Wars fans should agree on is it's better to have every incarnation of the films out there in the latest format no matter what that may be.
