Is it weird that I'm watching The Phantom Menace now and all I can think about is the sound of the light saber hum and how epic it will be uncompressed.

Perhaps it was shot with Hamil's stand-in (which is done all the time in every movie) and maybe that's why he says he didn't shoot it, but that doesn't mean the scene itself didn't exist in 1982.
It could have been scored to temp shots and storyboards, that happened fairly often.

Only for effects shots, not for live action scenes. And for that to be the case, the score would have to have been recorded while the movie was still being shot. ROTJ wrapped shooting in May 1982. Williams recorded the score in January and February of 1983, just months before opening.

From Michael Matessino's 1997 liner notes:

Quote:
...the music continues with "Tatooine Rendezvous," most of which accompanies a sequence eliminated from the film. In it, Vader uses the Force to contact his son, Luke Skywalker...The sequence begins with the brief telepathic exchange between Luke and Vader, which is broken by the appearance of droids Artoo-Detoo and See-Threepio, accompanied by Luke's theme and a playful bouncing wind melody as Luke places a newly constructed lightsaber inside Artoo's domed head."
The scene existed in 1982/83. Case closed.

I personally wouldn't put it past George to do or say anything at this point with his track record. And the reason this was even brought up was because Lucas has said it was Hamill then Mark basically said..."Hey that was not me" Might have been something done in post production but it was NOT me.
OMG! you are clueless! I saw mark hammil and george lucas last year in person at the stewart panel. He said, he's seen the scene and he finally remembers...here it is. it's him, his hands and everything confirms it.

go to 12:30 in the tape.

I hope this confirms it for you. the scene should be put back into the movie...as well as the Millenium falcon on tattoine landing.

Oh my god... I didnīt know the so called "fans" were also so paranoid. I hope the clip clears this matter up and they finally believe the scene was shot in ī82. I still donīt know what led them to believe it wasnīt, but nevermind.

I also hope that this scene is reinserted into the final movie ROTJ. I doubt it though... I guess it will remain a deleted scene.

I'd like to see this scene put back in. It doesn't look like it though. Around 11:30 on the video, it sounds like he says it's going in the deleted scenes section. Too bad.

Yeah, it is too bad they're not doing an extended or director's cut edition. But I'm just happy to get some more deleted scenes. I've always heard of scenes from the OT that were deleted, but I've never seen them.

Oh sure. NOW Mark remembers. Uh huh. That clears everything up.

I'm only slightly kidding. I don't really give a shit. Doesn't make me trust Lucas any more or less. The scene still seems cobbled together: could have been done then...or in the last year. Either way...cobbled.
I don't trust anything Lucas does anymore, unfortunately.

Now that we are finally done discussing the whole OOT topic and we finally know (and Octagon for month) that Lucas has in fact done more enhancing to release the complete Saga for the first time on blu-ray and in cinemas starting Feb 2012... what do you think he fixed or changed now that Star Wars is complete?

Besides, I donīt think the movies will be changed again after this one. Star Wars is out for the first time as a complete Saga with todayīs technical possibilities to finish the whole Saga. Itīs been said that they wonīt be changed for the 3D release. Lucas said he will finally make more own movies (after Red Tails) now that Star Wars is finished.

I think the CGI Yoda in TPM is a given. Iīm sure Sabers will be fixed too.

Come on guys. If it wasn't Mark Hammil in the scene, why would Lucas show it in front of Mark Hammil himself?

There are several other clips of the "Phantom Menace" Yoda on youtube. I went to see "Star Wars in Concert" were puppet Yoda was also replaced by the CGI Yoda.

I went to see Star Wars in concert 3 times...Never saw a CGI Yoda...I went to the first run of the concerts.

That looks fake. So, I don't know..cannot guarantee it's authenticity.
