Yes you are guaranteed to get it on release day if you pre order it with 2-day shipping.

I am pretty sure that is correct. However, at this point I wouldn't bother preordering it unless you can get a good deal (like under 65). Amazon's price is pretty consistent with other retailers. Why not just wait until release day and pick it up locally? That way the only delivery service you need to worry about is your own car....lol. You can also probably go to a midnight sale too. All that is provided you don't live in the boonies...

Keep in mind, I've seen a lot of people complain about their Amazon preorders showing up late. That's hardly a statistical analysis of course but it does happen.

Their guarantee just means they'll credit you a few bucks if it's late.

I have some Amazon credit so I'll probably stick with that. I don't live in the boonies at all but sometimes I wish I did.

I thought it was called A NEW Hope, not A BLUE Hope.
Seriously, though, pictures taken of a TV screen don't really prove anything. As someone else already pointed out, the reviews have stated that they were not allowed to take photographs, so these are probably photos of the HD broadcasts or the DVDs being played.

Doesn't prove anything, but I would expect very similar color timings as the DVDs.

And that's a damned shame.

There'll be nothing to see. The internets will collapse under the strain of it all, as if millions of fanboys suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced.

We might be okay. Don't forget, there will be a lot less porn traffic and anime streaming that day.

If I had to guess I'd say that is an HD broadcast as the aspect ratio has been altered for 2.35:1 to fit the screen. Unless Lucas has decided to alter the aspect ratio for all of the films too, which wouldn't really surprise me.

I'm pretty sure that it is a 2.25:1 screen as there is no cropping at the sides

I'll bet the biggest advantage to a Friday release is the chance of making local/national news and bumping up the buzz for that weekend.

Other big releases don't generally generate midnight release lines (and this one very well might) and even when they do cameras don't tend to show up.

The aspect ratio of all 6 of the films is 2:35:1. The only reason the aspect ratio on the HDTV broadcasts was different was because it was stretch to full the screen. It will not look like that on the blu-ray box set release it will be the proper aspect ratio of 2:35:1 for all 6 films.

Sales tax on $90 is like close to $9.00. That's one reason to order from Amazon.

Here's that picture captured from the DVD. The red lines signify the border of the image from the photo (as close as I can get it anyways).

The HDTV broadcasts here in Europe were all 2.35:1

Pictures of the US set. I guess you don't have to worry about disc art. The book that comes with the UK set has been incorporated into the case (like I said it would. I feel so smug lol). The US does get an extra booklet though maybe it's a disc guide?

The only thing that I would like out of that set is the extra booklet, if it isnt included with the UK one.

Really dont like how they have the discs crammed in that cardbard sleave.

The box artwork looks much nicer there.

Though that book looks really flimsy.
