- Crushed blacks

And so far all signs are pointing to the same transfer for these upcoming BDs.

It makes you wonder if even the sound gets corrected for them. However if it does not, then I guess that just means that we are all Lucas bashers and he's an arteest perfecting his craft.

.
Regardless of what anyone says there is no official proof that these are from the same transfer. No one knows for sure if this is the case.We really should wait and see when the reviews come in.

Who knows you might just be surprised at the end product.

I think describing the DVDs as a "complete botch job" puts you in the basher camp pretty firmly.

Which is fine to be one.

Just realize if you do get passionate to the point of feeling a need to inject hyperbole like that, to not be surprised when someone labels you as such.

I was 13 and couldn't stand any of them, except for Darth Maul, who didn't get much screen time.

For sure! The Phantom Menace has been just about as poorly handled as the OT. So, I am anxious to see a high quality transfer of it. Plus it is easily the most watchable of the PT.

I don't WANT to cancel the Complete Saga at all, but if I hear the transfers are as bad as I suspect I may just have to go with the PT only blus. I can deal with the changes and alterations of the OT, I really can. But I cannot deal to see the films with the 2004 color timing. I remember Hoth when it had white snow...lol. Its just lazy to me. I will rent the special feature discs (will only watch them once anyway...)

I was older than you both, and had no problem with the characters.

I hear you. If I paid for them myself, I would probably do the same thing, but since I am getting them as a late BD gift, I will get it regardless.

They are going to look the best ever on any home video format. That's a given, and I haven't seen the OT in such a long time.

I also wouldn't want to miss out on the extras.

Let's just keep praying (figuratively speaking) for an awesome set!!!!

YES I am ok with it because I have the DVD's and they look perfectly fine to me as far as DVD's go. All I think the transfer nuts are complaining about are minor and I never even notice any of the so called flaws and I think those that do are either being too damn picky or are just looking for something to hate on. And you of all people shouldn't even be in this thread dude, you got your own thread for arguing over which versions is better this thread is for talking about the Blu Ray and you stated on many occasions you are not buying the blu ray so get out of this thread thank you very much, or stop lying about not buying the blu ray and stop being a troll. Because out of all the hostile replies yours are the most hostile and offensive, for gods sake you posted that we are all bots checklist FIVE TIMES I am asking you politely to please leave THIS thread. I left your thread for the same reason because I had no desire to argue with you anymore because no matter what I said you continued to be a jerk. Stop saying there are two sides and stop calling everyone bots for crying out loud.

That is what I am sick of YOU cowboy just you, everyone else who has that opinion has been civil YOU have not. I respect the opinions of those who want the original even if I disagree with them but I do not respect YOU because YOU are the one who resorts to name calling and Lucas Bashing.

I do not think the guy is perfect *I* have stated that many times, *I* have problems with ALL six films, I have stated that, and I prefer the Special Editions because *I* want as much Star Wars as Lucas can give, but nowhere did I come along and say Lucas is the man you should always agree with what he says yet you continue stating that EVERYONE who disagrees with you is a bot, that sounds like you mean me also and I have stated many times where I disagree with BOTH sides of the argument but you continue to call everyone who disagrees with you a BOT so GET OUT.

Now in the comments sections yeah I will stir up some trouble cuz the comments are just popularity contests of who can get the most thumbs up, but here I have been very good about defending my position and respect others, YOU have done neither you do not defend your position you just call people bots and say that Lucas is re-writing history.

Here is how i see it:

If last year Lucas said that the blu's would be out by Dec 2010 then i would suspect that they where just going to slap on the 2004 versions.

BUT...

Lucas said that he WISHES that they would have come out at that time but that they where not finished yet. That tells me that they where not finished with the NEW Transfers at that time.

But aren't the special editions and the prequels going to be on the Blu-Ray set? And I'm pretty sure this isn't the "worship George Lucas or get out" thread either.

Can Adywan shed light on this?

If the transfers are a bit lighter, with less black crush, I think we are in for a treat, but I reserve my judgment until I see the final product.
The video glitch pointed out in both the 2004 transfer and the video from comic con doesn't matter how long it lasts because that wasn't the point of mentioning it at all. Sure, you can't really notice it unless you know its there. It was purely to point out the fact that both videos were taken from the same master and if in fact the video shown at comic con was from the blu-rays, then it is proof they used the same master for the Blu-Rays as this is an impossibility for the same glitch to happen at the exact same point if a new transfer was made.

And the other problems i pointed out about the blown out detail on the bright areas in ESB last a lot longer that 1 second, but you just mention the shortest one just to make it look like the problems can't even be seen. The lost detail in the bright areas in Cloud City last a hell of a lot longer than 1 sec and those were just a few examples of how bad that transfer is. And if they have lightened up the video using the same masters then that is going to destroy even more detail and open up a hell of a lot more problems as was pointed out earlier.

Where did he say that? Can you provide the proof that he said that? It was a few years ago that it was said that they already have the HD versions ready to go but that Lucas was waiting for Blu-Ray to become more mainstream before releasing them and that they were also finding new stuff in the archives all the time so were waiting to see what's in there before finalizing the set. Don't forget that George was against Blu-Ray as he was a HD-DVD supporter, which is another reason it hasn't appeared on a HD medium earlier.
