So Comic-Con has come and gone (?), did we find out anything new about the boxsets? Apart from they may be using the same transfers as the DVD's.
Yeah the Comic-Con announcment was about as exciting as the May the Fourth announcment ... a lot of build up to nothing. I'm sure that the "rebel experience" booth was really cool but I was expecting a bit more. I guess we will really have to wait for the reviews for any REAL news

Are you sure that you maybe didn't do the same thing and that's why you remember them being this way? Or if your Mace Windu is still in the package, maybe they just packed him with the wrong saber?
Mine is still in the packaging and hanging on my wall(lol), I always thought it was a misprint but it may not have been.

Wasn't the purple lightsaber supposed to be a bit of an in-joke? If I remember Samuel L Jackson original said he do anything in a Star Wars movie even down to been a Storm Trooper, I can't remember if he made the comment about been the only guy in the galaxy with a purple lightsaber during the TPM shoot or the AotC one. I think it was meant to be a surprise when he first saw it on screen. It was meant to be bad-ass....

Hahaha. No I didn't. I remember at the time thinking that his saber was so much cooler than the rest. Also, Jackson said to Lucas that HE wanted his saber purple and Lucas agreed?

Yes, SLJ told Lucas he wanted to have a purple lightsaber so Lucas let him have a purple saber.

Yes, but I believe that occurred during the production of Episode II, since he was actually using a lightsaber in the movie.

The figure in question is the one from the Episode I figure collection, which was made before he asked for a purple light saber.

Yeah, I remember him saying that too. But I remember at the time he said it, i thought thats not your idea as the toy for your character already has that colour. Maybe I'm going nuts, back then I was so passionate about Star Wars even the slightest thing would get me going. But now, like I do with the wife, I just smile and nod!!!

One documentary I would like to see included, haven't checked to see if it is or not sorry this thread is so all over the place, anyways I would like that one they did about Artoo Detoo being a drunk recluse Hollywood burnout whose career was saved with Episode I getting made. And more info on toys would be cool but not just toys I'd like more on video games and comic books, and something about the novels too. And anything else that they can dig up and give to us.

Indeed!

Sound design? No thanks. I am most interested in VFX, so I'd like n depth documentaries on those, especially for the PT, although I already have all Cinefex issues and John Knoll amazing 365 days of SW. Can't get enough of it.

I am looking forward to seeing the spoofs documentary. I hope it'll be in HD.

The space battle in ROTJ is probably THE best space battle. Period.

Don't get me wrong, it could totally suck.

But there's a lot of potential there.
I think so as well. I am looking forward to those, but I couldn't care less about the 501st legion or whatever it's called.

New info from the digital bits on the blu-ray box set. http://thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents : Quote : Finally, here's more very cool Star Wars Blu-ray news. We've finally learned that when the Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-ray set streets on 9/16, in addition to the previously released audio commentaries with Lucas and members of the production crew, each film will include a second commentary as well culled together from archival interviews with cast and crew members. What's more, you'll get 45 deleted and extended scenes in all (!), plus new cast and crew interviews and packed interactive galleries featuring images of matte paintings and concept art, as well as "turnarounds" of props, maquettes, models and costumes. Interesting. The 45 deleted/extended scenes look to be the real treasure trove. Should be some interesting stuff in there.

The thing is that the complete saga set, the artwork is very drab, boring, depressing. I would think that Lucas wouldn't want consumers to think of Star Wars as depressing.

Next, I don't like the interior design of the set because of how the Blu-ray disks are displayed inside the set. I don't care what other people say about these disks not being able to be scratched. If you scratch a Blu-ray disk often enough, it will become scratched.

Oh, and the people who say that George Lucas didn't design the packaging? Well, he may not have designed the packaging, but it also won't get released unless he approves the packaging. George Lucas has 100% control over how "Star Wars" is marketed, advertised and produced. I can almost guarantee you that George Lucas saw the design, saw the final product, before it went into production.

I don't think we've heard that it's a collection of 45 deleted scenes before. We knew there would be deleted scenes included but that's the first I've heard of the number of them. That's more than I was expecting. I thought we'd get more of a "token" effort with 3 or 4 a film.

That is wrong he always said after the TFI Friday interview he wanted purple.
The toys and art were just done as good was blue/green and bad was red, so at the end of the day it was either blue/green

I hope those 45 deleted scenes do not include the PT deleted scenes that came on the dvds.

It seems Lucasfilm is trying to convince people the value of the set is in the extra features. Still no official word about the transfer itself and what kind of restoration work (if any) went into the films. Extra features are secondary. I just want the films to look as good as they possibly can, even if it meant no special features.

If that was the case then Ki-Adi Mundi would not have had a purple lightsaber in TPM Collection 3
