Now I need to rewatch my copy soon cause I didn't notice it the 2 times I saw Day of the Dead.

Honestly its really strange how I didn't notice it at all the first time then it was clear as day the second time.

I have Day of the Dead and didnt notice anything, in fact I never notice any of these "audio" issues. Frankly it seems others dont because we are enjoying the films and not looking to be nitpicky over something so slight and so minor. Some of us have better things to do than look for inconsequential issues and then go on some delusional rampage that goes viral. The only disc replacement from Shout I ever received was for Army of Darkness. Everything else are just ploys to sabotage and ruin the reputation of Shout Factory from trolls who have some kind of animosity over a successful label. Just because a release isnt 100% perfect doesnt mean its going to get a disc replacement. Even Black Christmas is getting positive reviews from respected websites. Of course the haters and whiners in forums refuse to to believe anything they read. And if thats the case, why should we believe a person who complains about audio issues in a forum, if we cant even believe a review on a reviewers' website ?

I still have the Anchor Bay Day of The Dead Blu-ray, so can't comment on Scream's release. It's not nitpicky on Body Bags though. It's bad, and glaringly obvious. Probably even more so if you're watching in surround sound at reference volume. There are many posts about it in the official thread.

One thing to remember is the reviewers of these discs may not be as familiar with the movie as the fans are. Black Christmas reportedly has sound cues and music that is changed/ missing. The reviewers of a lot of these films may be watching it for the first time so they have no idea what has or hasn't been altered.

For example, Smokey and the Bandit is one I can cofirm has this problem. I've seen this movie literally dozens of times (I practically grew up on it) and there are tons of sound cues missing on the soundtrack (to the point where it's actually distracting and ruins the movie for me), yet there is no mention of it on the review of this site.

Early reviews of the recent "Wrath of Khan" disc didn't notice that an entire shot was wrong until people started pointing it out on the forums. Hell, look at the "Animated Series" thread right now, it's pretty clear that there are major syncing issues, and that's been out for months and no reviews caught it. Criterion released "Eraserhead" with a brief shot missing and EVEN THE DIRECTOR didn't notice -- but some anonymous on-line forum poster caught it, and was correct. Or your example, "Army of Darkness", even this site has a review up that only caught one of the two issues that triggered the recall, and it still isn't updated to reflect the confirmed facts.

People on forums tend to be more obsessive about these things than reviewers. That's not to say that any of these individual accusations are accurate, because the flip side is confirmation bias, where once people have it in their heads that Scream Factory messes up sound, they go looking for it. But assuming that reviewers would notice it if was a problem is never a good idea. (I'd bet a lot of reviewers would be afraid that the studios would stop sending them free copies if they started writing up every audio issue that fans notice.)

When will we get House of Evil on Blu? A double bill with House on Skull Mountain would be great!

The picking apart of home media quality in this day and age is off the chart insane. Me, I don't have time to analyze the merits of the varying degrees of restorative efforts put forth by the dizzying array of video labels every time I sit down to watch a movie. I barely have time to watch the movie

Then you're content with your product and have no need to post any complaints about any of your blu rays (hell, might even be content just going the instant video route) or the people who do have issues with a release that do notice the production errors.

Sounds like you are perfectly content with your blu rays as well so there's no more need for you to post anything else.

Are the forums solely the province of the discontented?

Just depends on the topic at hand I guess and the tone and content of particular posts from certain forum posters to instigate further negative posts. There's all sorts of different types of posts and threads on bluray.com. Things do tend to get heated from time to time though.

If there's one thing I'll never understand about the internet it's people that defend broken products and support companies no matter what. "I spend hundreds collecting blu-rays but who cares how they sound herp-a-derp."

I myself have the sound going but I get Ipod out, put headphones on and crank up some Death Metal all while watching movies over and over.

Couple of questions for you forum experts. Does anyone knows if Phantasm II still shipping with the slip cover? Has anyone ordered recently from Amazon or Best Buy or any other store and received it with the slip?

Thanks

I love me some Scream Factory releases. They've released so many films that no one else has bothered to even look at, and horror films are my first love, so having a chance to own even terrible films like Jaws of Satan (which I absolutely friggin' love) on Blu-ray with a decent picture, I'm totally there for. I realize they've got their faults. Their transfers aren't like, Criterion level or anything, but when compared to the old crappy VHS or terrible VHS like DVD transfers that I've only ever had a chance to see most of these films with over their lifetimes, I'm a happy camper.

I agree with the above statement though. Scream is probably my favorite company out there for physical media at the moment, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they should be absolved of any responsibility when something like this audio issue on Black Christmas happens. We know there's a mono track out there that doesn't have the issues that this one has, so there's especially no reason for this issue to have happened, and it would be nice if they could fix the problem and exchange discs for everyone that's already purchased one. They may be my favorite, but if issues like this just slide by, who knows when it will happen again.

I am happy with about 99% of their output though. In their hundreds of releases, I can only think of a few really big issues that they've had (for me anyway) that just left me scratching my head.

For everyone that's commented on the audio issues on Body Bags... I read about this a few months ago, and hadn't had a chance to watch my copy of it at the time. I watched it a few weeks ago, and I definitely noticed the audio issues on the film, but only in a few spots. Like, it would happen for about two minutes here, and two minutes there, maybe three or four times through out the film. Does it happen through out the whole film and I just wasn't noticing until it got worse in spots, or is everyone's more like mine, where it only happens in certain spots a few times through out the film?
