I think alot of the shift happening towards mainstream movies and less obscure horror from these boutiques is because they have already released tons of them. Scream, Vinegar, and Arrow have already released tons of these 80s and 90s gems. And now either its extremely hard to get rights to the remaining unreleased titles, or the risk is too high now, idk. Im still eagerly awaiting, The Night Flyer, Night Life, Carnosaur, Pinocchios Revenge, Campfire Tales etc to get a release. There's so many more that deserve love.

Its been repeated ad nauseam in this thread that Night Flier isn't happening anytime soon, as much I'd like it to.

Greedy Richard Rubinstein he's holding a number of horror titles hostage

Also Savages is a very underrated Oliver Stone film so I'll definitely be picking up that next year too. Speaking of Shout! Factory titles from last year I still need to pick up are these following titles.

The Faculty 4K
Rolling Thunder 4K
The Gift 4K
Born on the Fourth of July 4K

One thing I wish Shout! Factory would get back to is doing more Cannon Films titles, but it looks like Kinos taking that torch now. As Kinos putting out more Cannon Films stuff, which is freaking awesome such as America 3000. Not to mention The Mechanic in 4K, Runaway Train 4K, Death Wish 3 4K, the Ninja Trilogy 4K, and I wouldn't be surprised if Kinos got more Cannon Films titles up their sleeves.

I really have to question the logic of Shout Factory releasing the CHINESE GHOST STORY Trilogy on Blu only -- they're cornerstones of modern HK cinema, and renowned for decades as being a feast for the eyes. I would've bought 4Ks in a heartbeat, but as of now I'll be waiting to see what overseas companies end up doing with them.

Richard Rubinstein is basically holding it for ransom though Second Sight has done two other movies he's holding hostage (Dawn Of The Dead and Martin) so maybe it'll come from Second Sight.

That said, this Alfredo Leone restoration is the best that BLACK SUNDAY has ever looked, and I did see it in a theater back in 1961.
Hopefully Arrow or Radiance UK saves the day and releases this in 4K in the UK. I'm in the same boat, didn't buy the other 4K release as I need English subtitles with the Italian track

Yeah. I honestly think any other US label, that release on UHD, would have released these on UHD.

Yep. You ended that comment correctly.

Synapse has Prom Night. Not Scream Factory.

In fact their exact post says that "there are no release dates set for those films" and that they are "in production through 2025 and 2026."

New restoration of Black Sunday. Nice. Can't wait to see that. A bit of a bummer no Italian dub, but my Kino BD doesn't have it either so whatever.

End of Days, flawed?

They may have found it upwards of 5+ months ago. They chose to announce it publicly specifically on the anniversary of Day's release. Obviously no coincidence, they held back the announcement. As I've said Day should be shipping no later than March, they've got this $$$ maker on the fast track and are probably delaying other stuff to get this out asap.

Always liked End of Days so I’ll have to get that one. For Black Sunday I’ll just stick with the Arrow release I have now.

Who's to say they're not re-releasing a 4K collection 6 months down the road? Didn't they just set a precedent with the Bava set? Or maybe Black Sunday was just a one off?

Out best hope is an Arrow 4K release. It remains to be seen how different the Arrow releases might be from the Shout ones, but I suspect likely it'll be the same transfers.

If Arrow is allowed to. They may be contractually obligated to follow Shout's release pattern, or not risk cannibalizing Shout's sales with a UHD version, especially since UHDs are region free. They don't have to worry about blu-rays, since those are largely region specific.

I hope it gets a UK release, but as it's one of my most wanted titles, I won't mind spending an arm & a leg importing it.
I import from UK all the time, I'll take BFI transfer's over Criterion's any day!

A lot of the time(in my opinion at least), obscure titles are obscure because they aren't very good.

Like the titles you mentioned aren't even at the level of 'End of Days', which isn't exactly 'good' but it's watchable and has some value.

More than a few people would take say 'Quarantine'(2008), Hills have eyes remake, heck even Blair Witch(2016) over those.
