Some films are so obscure and rare that I am glad they come out in any format
With the pending release of Cellar Dweller I have but one VHS movie in my collection and I keep asking distributors to look into it
It wouldnt be a Scream title that's for sure but its a cool film called
On the Comet - its on DVD but lacks the English language version

So, as Cliff said, Criterion has them
I hope thats not the real Scanners cover. It seems pretty lousy, like it was made in a hurry just to announce that they had it.

Down to $7.39 - seems like a rather random price.

They look like those paper covers from inside a bigger box. Hint, hint. Possibly, these are just 2 of 4 films in a set. I'm just glad that this insures that SCANNERS and THE BROOD (my personal top 2 wanted Cronenberg) are going CC blu.

Yes, but Scanners has such a lovely poster. And I, personally, don't want it in a set, just for how to file the set. I like to keep franchises together, but I don't split up box sets. The box would go under either D or C, while Scanners 2/3 will be all alone.

I agree, looks like a box set to me, and these are the interior covers.

What four were you saying?

I say 3, Scanners, The Brood, and Rabid.
Shivers is with the company that released Black Christmas, right?
I guess they could throw Videodrome in, but that would be kinda lame.

I'm happy if its RABID and SHIVERS. It makes sense to have his early body horror films in a set.

I completely agree.

I would hope they do it like the recently announced 3 Films by Roberto Rossellini Starring Ingrid Bergman Box set. With the films separate and packaged together.

Criterion more than likely doesn't have access to Shivers.

Cliff MacMillan said this in regards to it Shivers:

I believe it's with the company that released the original Black Christmas on BD.

There's a dedicated topic for continued discussion of the Criterion release of The Brood and Scanners.

I see. 3 films is still great. You know for me what would be great is CC release a box set like the Kurosawa set of YOJIMBO and SANJURO were there were individual covers in the box so some could separate if they wished.

I, like a lot of you are enthusiastic fans and are eager to post something about any release of Scream Factory no matter the format. Someone will always mention the latest announcement whether its me or someone else. The problem that I was having had nothing to do with the content of this thread, but about saying "Thank you" - but it did turn into a forum content debate.
Arguing over thread content, slip covers and movie formats are completely frivolous to me. Not important at all.
Since we were all children at some point, Im sure some of our parents taught us the importance of saying 'please' and 'thank you'...
How this relates to movie releases on DVD or Blu Ray is at least for me, is being very appreciate of what is being released be it from Scream Factory, Olive Films, Synapse. I have learned to be very thankful for companies that are releasing sought after titles, and what bothers me are those negative backlash unappreciative comments that I wind up reading. Sure I see a lot of great thankful funny comments but then we get those repeated "where is Psycho IV' or "why cant this be on Blu Ray" comments that have been clearly explained by the studios many times over. Just recently in the Tremors Blu Ray thread, there was a user who said the same damn thing over and over again, page after page of "i wont buy it because of the DNR"
I dont need to be reading pages of the same nonsense. The reason I joined was to read about upcoming releases and see what the releases' extras will contain, and discuss with other members and not get into tissy fits over something that really means nothing in real life.
Collecting movies at least for me is a luxury and I consider myself fortunate to have a job and life where I can afford to buy movies and a wife who doesn't mind that I have 9 shelves full of movies. I am a fan just like the rest of you and I think every release is a step forward for my movie collection. Not only do I get a movie I love in the best format but I also in some cases get to see a film for the first time ever - and Im just glad for the opportunity to be able to watch something new to me (like those 4 film sets)
I look at it like this - its your birthday, you get one gift, do you say thank you or do say, is that all im getting ?
My writing this has no intention of causing drama and no I am not attacking anyone specifically, I just felt the need to explain myself and how I roll these days. If you dislike me or what I am writing you can always ignore me, Ill try not to cry about it
**Peace and happy collecting to all **
Wonderfully said! I see no reason for people to get all upset with each other over a Blu-Ray. I love buying Blu-Rays, but when it comes down to it, they're just Blu-Rays. There's no reason to get upset about whether or not the transfer is reference quality or if deleted scenes are included. They're just movies. Be thankful for what you have. Don't get greedy. There's more important things to worry about in life, anyways. Granted, I have to remind myself that sometimes too, but Blu-Rays are just a privilege compared to other things in life.

Respectfully you may be thinking of The Brood (not Rabid), which was unofficially announced in a Janus Films related article. It's possible I have missed something but my understanding is that other than wishful thinking there has been no indication of a Criterion Collection edition of Rabid. I'd love to be wrong because Shivers would rule.

Edit: This is the article revealing The Brood http://www.nashvillescene.com/nashvi...nt?oid=3320362

ON THE COMET and THE STOLEN AIRSHIP by Zeman are available with English subtitles from Video Dimensions in New York, and via Amazon. The transfers are pretty good quality, much better than the old Best Film and Video transfer of ON THE COMET.

Picked up and watched Ninja III: The Domination the other day. It was kind of a favorite of mine seeing it in the theatres many years ago. It was great to see it again and I liked how it looked and sounded. Worth the purchase. Would be nice to see Revenge of the Ninja on blu-ray.

That comment of mine was for RABID, not SHIVERS. SHIVERS is with Lionsgate.
