Default What To Buy With $3000 Limit

Hello everyone I have recently entered your world of entertainment.I was given a new Samsung lcd for christmas and been enjoying it but for 1 problem the sound sucks. My brother suggested I get a home theater and offerd to take me to get 1 this weekend he currently has a Bose system. After reading the post about Bose I will not be taking my brother now.So after speaking to my wife She says we can spare 3000.00 no more and I mean that has to cover EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!Is this enough money?

I know you guys might suggest trying out speakers but I really dont have that much time to go around auditioning speakers. So your suggestions will be really helpful. Also I cant do 2 speakers now with a reciever and work on the rest later I need all of it.Also does it make sense the audio will cost more then the dang tv?

P.S. If I can spend less money that will always help

Your wife is a lot different than mine.

And you won't have to spend anywhere near 3,000. Why not try a Home-Theater-In-A-Box and see if you like it? You could get one for $500.

(Others here might slay me for suggesting that).

That likely means that your center channel isn't working properly, or isn't set up properly in your player and/or AVR.

His wife will adore him if he can spend $2k on equipment, and $1k on jewelry for her.

.
I think there are worse things to suggest that would get you "offed". I'm sure a lot of people here got their start with a HTiB, plus they're not always a bad solution.

So, the $3,000 is just going towards audio? Or do you want to try to redo the room as much as possible within the budget?

why not check out av123. they have a deal right now two x-statics, one x-voce, two x-omnis(for rears) and a mfw-15 sub all for 1999.00. these are excellent speakers and an amazing sub. i dont know what shipping would be but i imagine you would have about 600 left for reciever.

I'd set aside $400-$500 for a receiver
$25 for cables/wires from monoprice.com

and then I'd get these.....
FRONTS $1,000 pair
http://www.listenup.com/B%26W+684-p-684-p-floor.html

CENTER $400
http://www.listenup.com/B%26W+HTM62-...2-p-49927.html

SURROUNDS $450 pair
http://www.listenup.com/B%26W+686-p-686-p-12780358.html

SUB $350
http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...roducts_id=407

All for under $3k, and would be a mighty impressive setup in my opinion.
Great High-End stuff, esp. that Sub should give you Plenty of Bass (that you said you really enjoy anyway)

Another good option also. I know you say you don't have much time to run around & check out all kinds of gear, but from just browsing here, you might have an idea of what brands of speakers, AVR, cable needs, remotes, you might want to try maybe? Are there any Best Buys with Magnolia Home Theaters in them? That way you could at least "audition" a couple different types of speakers & receivers, then maybe come back here for help with different online sites to save some $$$$ vice buying in store. If you do a couple in-stores, be sure to bring a few DVD's & CD's to audition with you. BLURAY Dvd's, not standard. So you will truly HEAR the Lossless Audio you'll be searching for with the $3000.

(Btw--my Harmony One is the Best Universal remote I ever owned, but is kind of pricey -- $150-$180 most online retailers -- so the Harmony 880 might be a good choice as well that I heard pretty much does the same job more or less).

You will get many many replies to that topic thread title - "WHAT TO BUY WITH $3000 LIMIT" -- Must be nice! Have fun & enjoy the next few months of - more or less...

Are you not in the U.S. ? Why do you need to find them online

It's $3,000 not a pocket full of lint and loose change...... I wouldn't limit myself to online retailers only.
