Default Reindeer Games: The Director's Cut - March 6, 2012 - Review

Reindeer Games: The Director's Cut Blu-ray

Reindeer Games Blu-ray Review

Quote:
Lionsgate will bring another Miramax catalog title to Blu-ray with its 2012 release of Reindeer Games. The final theatrical feature from acclaimed director John Frankenheimer (The Manchurian Candidate, Ronin), this thriller centers on Rudy Duncan (Ben Affleck, The Town), an ex-convict who, shortly after his release from prison, falls in love with the beautiful Ashley (Charlize Theron, Monster).

However, their burgeoning relationship draws the ire of Ashley's brother Gabriel (Gary Sinise, Forrest Gump), a career criminal who brutally forces Rudy into planning a casino heist.

This Blu-ray showcases the 124-minute director's cut of the film. While many of the technical specifications are still unknown, the disc will contain the following bonus features:

Audio commentary with John Frankenheimer
Behind-the-scenes featurette
Eight scenes as they appeared in the theatrical cut

Reindeer Games streets on March 6th, 2012.

This is actually a pretty good film in the guilty pleasure category. I'm sure I'll snag it at some point.

Is the Canadian copy the theatrical or the dead director's cut?

Its the theatrical cut, so for that reason and the fact that i have mine signed by ben affleck, Charlize Theron, Gary Senise, Danny Trejo and Ashton Kutcher (who forgot that he had a small part in it, when i asked him to sign it last year, till i reminded him of it.)I will be keeping my alliance disc and sticking the directors cut in the case with it.

well let's be fair, he did also forget he was married not so long ago so you can forgive him for forgetting a small part in this movie

It is. All the Miramax BDs released through Lionsgate went OOP.

Paramount seems to be reissuing the best-selling ones first, no idea if this one will get a re-release, or when.

My family is always riding me about the time I spend tinkering in the HT to achieve what they consider to be "minor" improvements.
It's always a running joke that they would be perfectly happy to simply pop in a bluray and watch a movie on our living room TV (basic 65" RCA, sound bar) instead of firing up the dedicated theater room.
Last night, in the spirit of giving my latest toy a test run (new DENON amp), I got to choose the christmas themed movie. I picked this because of the DTS HD soundtrack.

A half hour in and they turned on me. My wife and kids decided that the transfer on this bluray was so bad as to be considered unwatchable...lol..There might be hope for them after all.

Seriously, this movie needs an update, hopefully to 4K with ATMOS sound.

I saw the new package and as a giant Frankenheimer nerd who has the crummy DC Blu, theatrical DVD and even the poster hoped it was a new transfer finally...of course it isn't. Hopes going back down...
