Default PS3 flickering on BD Movies

I have a PS3 60GB, and I think that it is a fantastic machine. I have one slight problem though, and I wonder if anyone else has noticed it.

When I play Blu-ray movies they flicker 2 or 3 times throughout the movie. Similar to VHS tracking not aligned. As I say it is only 2 or 3 times, but it annoys me. It is okay on upscaled SD DVD's.

My question is. Do I need to take it back to the store for repair, or is this normal.

Cheers

Check your cables. I had this problem a few mo. back and eventually traced it to a bad (cheap!) component video cable. Replaced it and presto.

ive had that problem with mine also when I'm playing games, never when im watching a BD though. I 'm pretty positive its because of the cheap HDMI cable i got off ebay.

The same thing happened to me, then when I took another look at the HDMI cable. The official HDMI logo wasn't on it which meant it was a knockoff. THen I got HDMI 1.2a then 1.3a for my projector. Perfect, no problems with flickering or anything.

I'm highly satisfied with what I have now.

I hate to pay the asking price for Monster Cable, but maybe I will have to bite the bullet and buy one of their HDMI cables

Don't. Monster Cable products are way, way overpriced.

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

This is the one I use. Works great. it's 1.3a but if your HDTV's HDMI input is 1.2a instead of 1.3a, you can buy 1.2a instead because they're much, much cheaper on Monoprice.com

I had the same issue, made the switch over to Monster and well worth it. Yes, they are not cheap, but the quality is there to see.

Check to see if you have it set to 24fps or 60 output, I believe switching this has helped some PS3 owners.

I have switched to 60. Will watch a movie at the weekend and see if this helps
