Default Disney Releases

Why is it that Disney puts so much effort into the their "kids" movies, but when a movie I want that they own comes out, its almost guaranteed to look like crap? Between Buena Vista, Miramax, and Dimension Films, Disney owns man titles I am interested in. I am sorry but Cars, Ratatouille, Invisible, and Lookout are not my cup of tea. The two movies Disney released that I was looking forward to so far (Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Bad Santa) were a total let down. They were barely better than the DVD, if at all. Now I have seen what Disney can do with their kids movies, but what about my movies? Bad Santa, for example, was a big box office hit and I am sure it will sell well for a catalog title. On the other hand, The Lookout, a movie I didn't like at all and only got as part of the BOGO because someone recommended it, looks pristine. Why is Disney not putting any effort into the Blu-ray movies I am looking forward to? Why release them at all if there not gonna try.

maybe because you are not the only person in the world?
Just about all Buena Vista titles I've seen look great. There's 2 reasons why a movie wouldn't look good: 1) They didn't transfer it well, or 2) The original film doesn't look too good.

I didnt claim I was. All I said was that why is every movie Disney owns getting the royal treatment and the few I actually like are not even better than the DVD. It would seem that everyone else's movies are looking pretty, but mine are the ones that arent.

The reason why they are going all out on the... um... "kid" movies is because they tend to generate bigger revenues in comparison to PG-13 and R-rated movies. I can assure you that a large number of "kid" movies are watched by adults, not just kids.
I know it is not going to be 5 star PQ, but why are they even bothering to release this when they make it look no better than the DVD? I am not asking for much of an improvement, just a noticeable difference to justify the Blu-ray price tag.

This is true for their "big" releases, but movies like Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Bad Santa look terrible.

Pirates and Apacolypto were both very impressive. I am not saying Disney doesnt releases really good transfers. I am just asking why some of their other great movies like Bad Santa are getting such bad transfers. Why even release a Blu-ray that looks like a DVD?

Blu-ray has something for everyone. Unfortunately most of the movies I am looking forward to turn out looking bad.

well you can't say it's kids movies. It's "everyone" movies (rated E or G). I am over 20 and my main movies collection are Disney (made up 50% of my total DVD). I for one, enjoy ratatouille the most of all Disney BDs. In fact, all BDs

CG movies are a lot easier to set-up for HD.

Apocolypto is Disney, and I have to say I was very pleased with the PQ/AQ on that, not to mention the Pirates Movies.
