Default PS3 or Standalone

I am not one for Interactivity
But I really just want to play games
The 360 Handles that, I have recently discovered that all I use the PS3 for is Blu Ray.
So I was wondering if their is a standalone coming out or is out that is the best value out there

well the only reason I would buy a stand alone is if you have a receiver that can decode dts master audio, then get a bd player that is ready for Master audio, if not, the ps3 can't be touched.

So even tho you already have a Blu player, you want a second one? Is that what you're saying? Well as of now I believe the PS3 is the best value all around.

Just hang tight for a while. It's been widely reported that Sony is working with DTS to put DTS-HD MA decoding in the PS3 via a firmware upgrade. If they do that, you'll have no reason to buy another player. Even if they don't do it, you currently own the best all around player on the market as is.

So you don't even plan on playing any of the PS3 killer exclusives like Uncharted, Unreal Tournament 3, or Metal Gear Solid 4? Sheesh!

Your SIG says you have 10 PS3 games. Think about it this way: If you manage to sell your PS3, you'd have to ADD money to buy a new BD player. Why waste money?

Just hand in tight there. Sony will being in DTS-HD MA thru firmware update.

PS3 is most future proof hardware I have ever purchased. If they bring a new big feature via firmware update every quarter, how can you complain?

Also, dont be a xbot and look out for strong PS3 exclusive line up for this year and ahead.

Audio support from the PS3 is currently inferior to some of the standalones. That's the only obvious downside.

Unless you have heard something different, I thought that there was a hardware limitation that prevented the transfer of DTS-HD MA on the PS3 that firmware will not correct. To answer your original question, get the dmp-bd30 if you need one now, if not, then wait for the dmp-bd50.

Also, please sway me to the PS3 software side by naming a must have exclusive title other than MGS4.
Xbox '08 - Left for Dead, GOW2, Fable 2, Too Human, GTA IV DLC, Ninja Gaiden II shareable content, Castle Crashers, etc.

The Ps3 will never bit stream DTS-HDMA . But just like the Dolby TruHD it can send it out LPCM which is just as good & is possible with a firmware update

LPCM is not better or just as good as bitstream. If they can fix the DTS-HD MA issue through LPCM, then that would probably suffice the masses. Well, not really, there will always be a group that will complain about this issue. Unless you have a dedicated HT room, then I am not sure how many people will even notice lossy vs. lossless audio. To me DD still sounds pretty good.
