Do You guys think people would have liked the 360 more if it had come out with full HD and a bluray player at launch?

i agree, even though its completely crap compared to PS3, but it would have made people think twice about buying PS3, sales would have been horrible for the PS3.

No, not for me anyways. I bought my XBox 360 for it's games at the time. I was undecided on a Hi-Def player. My DVDs were fine with me. That was near the 360's launch a couple years ago. But now, with the format war over and a clear-cut winner, I could see how it could affect new buyers. It all comes down to the games though.

Why are we digging up the past anyways? Plus, MS wants downloads to succeed.

Default HD DVD Would Have Won

As an owner of a HD Dvd Player and a Blu-Ray Dvd player, I can tell you that if Microsoft would have came with the HD Dvd player drive already installed like the PS3 did with the Blu-ray, I really believe they would have won the format war.

just think about it if Xbox 360 had a blu-ray player built in then games on Xbox 360 would have been on Blu-ray discs(even though thats not possible since Microsoft wanted to put out the 360 before the PS3 so they probably werent thinking about that but anyways what im trying to say is if Xbox 360 games were on blu-ray discs and not dvds Metal Gear Solid 4 could have ended up on the 360 if Kojima wanted to. but the 360 is a crappy console with the RROD and dumb Xbox Live and its downloads Microsoft is so obsessed with *please note im a true Sony fanboy so even if Xbox 360 did have Blu-ray my support is for the PS3 only*

seriously thats the most stupid thing ive ever read, come on ! they are silicon chips inside a plastic box !!!!

the 360 isnt a crappy console and live isnt dumb, it seriously kicks the @ss of the psn store (do they ever put anything good on there ..ie demos rather than the "wallpapers" and theames.)

ive got both consoles a launch day 360 that has never failed and ive got a ps3 (that ive had to have replaced twice...hard drive failure, and one with a disc drive failure..so dont tell me the ps3 is a more reliable system) but they happily sit side by side next to my tv

and whats with the end quote ...>*please note im a true Sony fanboy so even if Xbox 360 did have Blu-ray my support is for the PS3 only*

grow the feck up ....you idiot, do you kiss your console last thing at night, its a plastic box FFS

still, having to pay £4.99 a month for a service that works (imo) is worth it

payment means investment....ever wondered why psn is slooooooow, and has so little content ??? lack of investment i down loaded the BFBC demo from both services live down loaded within half hour, psn.....i turned off the download after 4 hrs and it was only at 36 %

hell you wouldnt buy a car and expect the petrol for free...?????

to say something is "dumb" because you have to pay,is a little bit...well...dumb,

if sony decided that they were gonna charge a monthly fee for psn, would you pay ????, as by your own admission your a *sony fanboy* (something i would not be so proud of stating) i think that the answer would be unequivocally...YES !

Yes, I think people would have liked the 360. If MS kept the cost of Xbox 360 the same with HD and Blu-ray player or even HD-DVD player it would have be very popular. It might even had change the balance in the Format war. (Good think it didn't come with an HD-DVD player )

Anyway you look at it MS biggest problem was/is the reliability and failure rate of the consoles. Just fixing these problems before launch would have went along way towards people liking the Xbox 360 more.

No. I would like it better if it weren't such a piece of crap. Too bad that isn't the case.

I could not agree more. I liked the system up until I had to send my second one in and got another refurb.

Microsoft did not want people buying Xbox's as movie players. Actually I don't think Sony wanted people buying discounted PS3 as movie players either, until they realized they had lost the gaming console war and the PS3 was the only weapon they had to win the HD war. Currently the PS3 is a major loss leader, it will be interesting to see how much they are willing to lower the price to gain market acceptance. I think everyone was expecting that HDDVD's demise would result in everyone getting off the fence and buying Blu, but that's not happening. So far none of my peers have any interest in Blu-Ray. This is going to be a very interesting year..

It will be interesting to see what Microsoft come up with next.

a lot of people are not ready for blu-ray and probably dont have a hdtv yet and the way gas is its ruining the economy so bad so many places are going out of business and thats why people are not willing to get a hdtv yet

+1 A very very interesting year. With the economy in the tank, it will be interesting to see what happens at X-mas with electronic & software sales.

at 360 launch, all things aside, if it came w/ a blu-ray player it would have been an overall benefit. Remember the 360 launch happened way before the PS3 was ever launched. Therefore many were already die hard 360 fans. The cost would have been significantly more, but would have picked up and benefited them in the long run, just as it has on the ps3. However, after seeing almost everyone I know that has a 360 experience the ring of death, I think 360 is on the low end and ps3 is catching up finally. I have a friend who is on his 4th 360, 3 within the last 6months. They need to quit sending him crap refurbished ones and give him a platinum for all the crap he's had to go through. PS3 all the way and I love my PS3 as i got mine for $250 last June.
