Hey guys a coworker of mine is looking to get a "bigger" tv for his basement. He found this tv the samsung hl72a650 for 2200 at a local store. I don't really know much when it comes to DLP or bigger screen size as to what to look for in terms of PQ and the best bang for the buck. He wants something around a 72" TV for around 2200-3000 dollar range or possibly alittle bit more if he is getting a much better product. I would probably say he isn't going to go under 65" because he want's something big. I am just wondering if there is a better deal somewhere else or a better brand in this size for the same amount of money. I was even trying to get him thinking about a projector instead of a DLP tv but like I said I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to huge screens as I only own a 50"er. Any help on this would be much appreciated!

He has a big basement and he is making a home theater room nothing special like some of the rooms people have in here but just a big screen tv and he has a nice sound system all polk sreies speakers running from a pioneer elite 94. He has no ambient light issues in the room he is using. I am just curious as to whether there is a projector in that price range or anything else that might be better for PQ than the TV he is looking at?

But what will look better and I know this is going to be a matter of opinion, with a 1080p projector (he claims the guy he was talking to says that he will get grain from every projector which I don't really think that grain is an issue with them but it might be) vs the DLP he is looking at? Cause whenever I look at DLP I mean regardless I have a plasma and have and LCD I see a kind of faded look to the PQ but I mean they don't look bad at all but he will have to worry about dimming over time and whatnot from the lights. And I haven't really seen a 1080p projector in a dark room at all so I have zero knowledge on how that will look.
