In my humble opinion I say go with the great Blu-ray movie, it's a no brainer. You can love a great video game to death but will you want to play it in say five years? Or even ten years? Probably not. Then theres the price, okay movies will win that fight, based on the (dare I sat it average $30 price tag

Gonna have to say Great Blu-ray Movie...even thou great blu-ray games will last awhile but eventually after u beat it over and over again and ppl stop playing it online you really cant do anything else...but as a Movie you can watch it over and over again and find something new and as you can tell ppl are still watching really old movies such as Gone with the Wind and Casablanca...and you never see ppl playing really old games such as pong(even thou its great) you will never have a buddy call and be like "Hey you wanna come over and play pong?"

So true, but at the same time they are double the price and we still buy them at an equal or greater (in many cases) clip? ![]() |

I would go with a game. For the most part the only game I will always buy is NCAA Football. I will only play this game for about 4 months before I get tired of it and don't play it again until the new version comes out. However, in that four months I probably play the game for around 400 hours. No movie in my collection will ever be played for near that amount of time. The most I'll watch a movie on Blu-ray is probably 5 times. So I might get 12 hours of entertainment from the movie. Even at 3 times the price the game still seems like a better value to me. However, I don't buy many games so when I do buy one I get my money's worth.

This is a great argument for the Game side as well. I do get what your saying, buy less games-enjoy more often. |

Great Blu-ray Movie > Great Blu-ray Game
Great Game > Great Movie To explain, I don't think there is currently any Blu-ray based game that I'd rank as giving me more enjoyment than a Blu-ray movie over a lifetime, although LBP could possibly get there once I jump back into level editing. There are some great cartidge based games that I'd say will provide more hours of entertainment for me than a great movie over my life though. Take for example Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Pretty sure I've played through that game at least 3 times so far - each time I'd guess at 15-25 hours (I honestly can't remember though). I'm sure I'll play it at least 2 more times in my lifetime as well - which would equate to an average of 100 hours of enjoyment over my lifetime. I'd have to watch a movie about 50 times throughout my life to equal that. For me, I just don't think I'd ever get there. Even my favorite movies probably only average out to one viewing a year. Ocarina of Time may not even be the best example. I think I may have already put over 100 hours into Mario 3 and/or Sonic 2 and I still go back and play them every so often. How about World of Warcraft. I gave it up after about a year (thank god), but I'd still guess that I played it for 250+ hours. That's equivilent to 125 movie watchings. I definitely can't imagine ever seeing a movie 125 times. EDIT - looks like me and fatediesel are on the same page |

![]() But seriously I think it would depend on the game and the movie. I had some buddies in college who would bust out the old Ice Hockey on the NES once every week just to play it. And the game was closing in on 20 years old at the time. Though there are so many classic movies that I myself could watch repeatedly for the rest of my life so I would definitely have to go with movies, though I could see the argument for games if the game is good enough. |

now a days i would say movie no contest! new games don't have the long term appeal to me they used to, seems so many games rely to heavily on graphics and not enough on fun factor! the only games i consider life long games lol are all ps1 or older era games, maybe 1 or two from the ps2. I can watch movies repeatedly if they are among my favorites, and i generally try to only buy movies that fall in this category, although i must admit during the movie war i went a little crazy on the BOGOs lol and bought some stuff i probably shouldn't have.
