I searched around but didnt see anyone with this problem.
I got the Onkyo 606 a few months ago but it would not pass thorugh anything but 480P video... it also made loud clicks when changing inputs. The tech said it was a bad unit and I shipped it back for a replacement. Got the new one and it passes 1080 from my DVR but wont pass ANY video from my Panasonic BD30 Blu Ray. ![]() The clicks is no longer there when changning inputs and I am at my witts end on this Onkyo 606. Since the DVR is working just fine through it I think it must be my settings on the Pana BD30. Any ideas would be much appreciated! |

ive never had loud clicks on my 705 until one ps3 update. and only then its only with the ps3, nothing else does this.
im not sure if its the same thing as your experiencing but i had a little trouble getting the hdmi video out on my panny bd60 set to 1080i. since both hdmi connections on the player and receiver are automatic, it made it tricky. i had to connect another video cable to see a pic from the player. i had to first get the hdmi audio on for the receiver to sense the hdmi connection. so once the hdmi connection was assigned on the receiver i could go back and set the hdmi settings to what i needed before i set the hdmi video to on. im sure that it made it harder for me since i wasnt using 1080p. |

the clicking i was describing was when i play a blu ray movie and the receiver clicks before the menu appears or the movie plays. its like its trying to find the correct audio to use. this never happened before one of the ps3 updates nor does it happen with anything else. i guess the op's clicking is different. 2 of those settngs are BD30 default the Resolution was set to 720 or auto still no go on the video. Its very strange... Im going to unbox my $50 HD DVD player and see if it works with the Onkyo before Panasonic call me back in 3-5 days to tell me its the Onkyo. |

Crack, I have the BD30 from Panasonic, running it with HDMI to my Panasonic 1080p 46PZ85U. I am not sure if I should have my 24p output to on or off. In fact, I have never really played around with the television settings or the Blu-Ray player settings at all. I have the set switched to Vivid, but beyond that I have no clue what I should have on, off, etc. I recently got a few of the Panasonic demo looping Blu-Ray discs that they produce every six to nine months it seems, which are great for checking out the televisions performance but beyond that, just eye-candy.

HDMI has a handshaking that will push down the resolution to the more acceptable setting, whenever applicable. By connecting your receiver and the TV to the same HDMI line, the final resolution setting will be determined by the TV handshaking. To ascertain if this is the case you should hook up your Pioneer Blu-Ray player directly to the TV set, using the "auto" setting at the player's HDMI output. Whatever resolution is negotiated, this is the one which ultimately will limit your system. There is little chance, in my opinion, that either the Onkyo or the Pioneer may be the culprit for the 480p output. I have a similar setup (Onkyo 605 + Pioneer BD-30), and it works perfectly all right, yielding 1080p at the TV's end. Last edited by Paulo Elias; 05-10-2009 at 02:34 PM. |
