I just ordered 6 titles from amazon.com and with shipping and exchange it was cheaper than .ca. They have also shipped it allot quicker than the Canadian version as well. I just hope I don't get nailed with customs/duty when it crosses the border.

There are no fees at all on your end if you used the standard shipping.

They are only covering their asses. Every time that I have ordered from Amazon.com for deoivery to Canada, it arrived within 7 business days of the ship date. It certainly won't arrive as quickly as an Amazon.ca order, but the immense price difference makes the extra 4 days wait worth it.

And, as for duty? I have placed close to 50 orders with Amazon.com over the last 3 years and have yet to see any notification of the sort. Larger shipments from overseas is a completely different matter though. They tend to be less democratic about that type of import transaction.

C.R.A.Z.Y. Blu-ray is available in Canada but not USA. Amelie also but it doesnt have subtitles, so best we overlook that one.
TVA films has released a few movies off the top of my head there was "La vie en rose" and "Dans une galaxie près de chez vous 2" but then again none of these are "Hollywood" movies.

Default Canada vs US BD contents

Didn't want to start a new post, but it's in the same way.

I'm talking about US vs CANADA BD realease in the way that discs are exactly the same. I was wondering about that and was told in another thread that there is no problem with that and that's only the cover that maybe change.
But after that, I'm reading the review for sleeping beauty, and realized that's in English only. So I started to freak out because I bought it yesterday.
But I realized that there is a Canada release and it contains all of this :
English: DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1
French: DTS-HD HR 7.1
Spanish: Dolby Digital 5.1
French: Dolby Digital 5.1
Ouf I'm okay, but it's kind a me to by BD from US now ! Is it the first time we see something like that ?
P.S. You probably understood that I need French audio, especially for a kid movie!
Thanks

DJ Matt

Most times if it is the same studio then they are the same, but sometimes they are not. I think Disney made some other tiles that way as well (multilingual or english only)

then again just because it was bought in Canada does not mean that you get the multi version.

Thanks for this thread was wondering if I should order from the amazon.com since moving to Canada a couple of months ago all of my blu rays that i own are still in the states in storage ;( so i miss my stuff.

I recently bought the PS3 80GB through amazon.ca couldn't keep away but now i need to buy the new movies coming out... the prices at HMV are so high ;( I was worried about the customs part of it so thanks for clarifying ...BTW do you place small orders or just place one big order to save on shipping ?

I usually do orders with 3 or more items at once. Shipping is $8 for 1 item then $3 more for each extra item. No taxes or fees at all on our end though so you have to consider that you pay no tax as an offset to some of the shipping fees.

Even if I don't really like bi-lingual packaging either, saying that Quebec it's just one "frickin'" province (by the way there are like more than a million of people in other provinces that speak french since birth), makes me sad for you...

I guess the saying "ignorance is bliss" doesn't apply here. Be a little more sensitive next time will ya! Please.

I've ordered from Amazon.com, Tower.com and for vinyl from AcousticSounds.com, and never once have I been charged with duties and/or taxes. My orders have ranged from 1 item to as many as 6.

But there is a new twist now.......the Canadian $ has dropped significantly, and right now I don't think it's worth buying cross-border. Unless it's a phenomenal price.
