Default OK..US vs. Canada releases?

I've noticed im ordering movies STRAIGHT from amazon and i'm getting movies with canadian ratings on the back..nothing wrong with it. but is there a difference between them and the "US" version or is it simply bought in canada because they are cheaper?

i just dont like getting movies..seeing no canadian rating on it..then ordering some movies..and a portion of them have it on there..makes me wonder about it.

You'd have to list some titles as an example.

Amazon sells a limited assortment of Canadian exclusives on Blu-ray, but the movies you listed would not typically be imported from Canada for sale on the U.S. Amazon. Are you sure you are ordering directly from Amazon and not one of the many Amazon marketplace sellers that do send out Canadian copies?

This, unless you are ordering from amazon.ca they will never send you Canadian movies. You must be ordering from a private seller.

I have a few of those and looked at the back and indeed I do have the Canadian ratings too.

I'm sure that is a normal.

edit: mine has both the U.S rating and Canadian rating.

Its normal, all Sony and Warner releases have both the US and Canadian ratings on the back. Mainly because Sony & Warner issue the same cover for most of the releases between these countries.

I could be wrong, but I believe the North American HQ for Amazon must be in Missassuga, Ontario. I say this because all the packages I get from Amazon.com comes from Missassuga as a place or origin ( don't know why they charge import fees though...)

So, they probably just get their stock from the Canadian Distribution Centres.

I'd say, unless you're getting French writing on it as well, than you're likely getting the standard US release.

Maybe you are not paying close enough attention and clicking the canadian version on bluray.com.

This.

A Canadian release wouldn't just have the rating, it would have the mandatory french.

Lots of releases in North America have both ratings listed on the box art. It's seriously no big deal and has been going on for years. The studios figure the discs are gonna be sold/rented in both markets, so they list both ratings.

It also saves them the trouble of designing and printing two different covers.

Honestly, who cares if the box art has both ratings on the back?

By the way, Warner has been including the Canadian rating with the US rating on DVDs as far back as 1999.

The Matrix:

However, their first releases in 1997 didn't have the Canadian ratings.

Sleepers, 1997

Again, Warner started printing the Canadian ratings on the back along with the US ratings since the same package is pretty much sold in the US and Canada. Warner has very few bi-lingual packages in Canada.

Sony has done the same thing...the early DVD release only had US ratings but then they started adding Canadian ratings to their later DVD releases.

Even Paramount's DVD artwork has changed over their release timeframe. the early releases had no Canadian ratings but the later ones do.

Like Benrrici, I don't care what the package looks like. As long as I can watch my movies, I'm cool.

Some of those Canadian releases are in the wrong aspect ratio, Se7en is a prime example!

FYI: HD can be either 720i/p or 1080i/p.

Some releases are going to be 1080i, either due to the master used or the elements are not avaiable to do a proper 1080p presentation.

Playstation, Apple TV, and XBox 360 HD downloads are 720p but in the Fall XBox will begin to offer 1080p downloads.

Fox HD, FX HD, Fox Sports HD, ABC HD, ABC Family HD, ESPN HD, ESPN HD 2, Disney Channel HD, and Disney XD HD are 720p broadcasts.
