Default What is the best blu-ray player to buy/download?

The one I had before didn't play it as crisp as it should have been?
Or is it possible that is why the actual blu ray?
Just post some and I will definitely look into them, thanks

just curious what movie were you wathcing?
is your tv 1080p?
all blu ray players broadcast at 1080p. newer ones have new features like x.v color and deep color but the big diffrence on these is really load time and upconverting. So more then likley it was not a bad blu ray player.

The best performing blu-ray player at this point would be the Denon DVD 3800BDCI that has been upgraded by Dave Schulte of the Uprade Company. It is expensive however. Dave's website is:

http://www.upgradecompany.com/index.php

For those that insist that the PS3 is the best and they would not buy a stand alone player, you will never know the kind of video and audio performance that can be obtained from blu-ray, cd, or even dvd.

Dave also does upgrades on many other units including the Pioneer elite players as an example.

But, when he and I listened to the sound performance, the upgraded Denon 3800BDCI outperformed the 2 box Esoteric DAC and CD player that cost $40,000.

I have to send mine back to Dave for a further upgrade since he has discovered more ways to make a substantial improvement in the performance of the Denon 3800BDCI in particular.

Rich

And many would agree, especially the vast majority of us who don't have thousands to spend on "upgrading" an already ridiculously priced BD player.

It's seems that none of the previous posters have realized that this is a pc software question. I don't have a blu-ray drive in my pc, but I constantly hear about powerdvd.

My understanding is that choppy playback would be more of a cpu overload issue than a software issue. I would suggest investing in a new video card which can offload much of the hd video decoding from the cpu, this should improve playback.

LOL. That's what happens when you read threads from the "New Posts" list.

Thanks for clarifying!

Out of WinDVD 9 Plus BD/PowerDVD 8 Ultra/ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre, I prefer ArcSoft TMT.

It helps on my AR190G where the video card does not offload and the CPU has to do the work.
