I want to know if seeing a movie preview spoils the film for you.
A "movie preview" extends to any promotions of the film including scenes or reveal a developing storyline. (For example, one of the three pictures on "The Messengers" sleeve reveals the "surprise" ending or an actor appearing on a talk show reveals his character starts off a hero for the first half of the film but by the end you will hate him.) Do movie previews spoil the film for you? Last edited by GasCat; 07-16-2007 at 11:34 PM. |

It's getting worse. They are even releasing 10-minute long clips on the internet before they release the movies.
Spider-Man 3, there was a lengthy video clip that they uploaded onto the internet for a few days. It was in HD but it really gave away a lot of the movie. |

Trailers never spoil good movies for me. If the trailer has enough in it to give away a movie, it usually means the movie was a piece of shit anyway. Think about it, if all the good scenes in a movie can take up a 1-3 minute trailer, then what the hell is the point of making the whole movie?
Online previews aren't bad for people really itching to see some tidbit of the movie. They're completely optional, so if they bother you, don't watch them. I watched the first 8 minutes of Live Free or Die Hard, and it just made me freak out and want to see the movie even more. Going on 4 times now ![]() |

I am not sure if you had seen the special futures on the Terminator 2 the liquid metal box set. it has the original theatrical trailer of the movie which i thought it is one of the best trailers i have seen. it didn't give away anything about the movie. it started with the terminator theme song, and you suddenely see ahnold the gubernor comes out with his red eye exposed. now the trailer was about 1 min long and thats all that it showed. now days trailers are way too long and gives way too much about the movie. take live free or die hard for example it showed the entire action scenes in the movie. i think trailers should be mysterious, show less, and only expose the icon. that would make people wonder about the movie.

The previews dont spoil the movie for me, however sometimes the only good scenes in the whole movie are ALL shown in the preview. That sux when that happens.

Aliens had an excellent trailer. You had no idea of anything because it was just one shot. When the scene came up in the film you were like the characters and didn't know what to expect.
edit: I hear that Bosels. Explosion after explosion after explosion....or they show all the jokes in a film. |

I love teasers, but full-length trailers often spoil too much of the movie for me, unless there's a large gap between when I see the trailer and when I finally see the film - enough to forget most of what I saw. Other exceptions are films like Superman, or Batman, something already very familiar where you know what to expect anyway.

i actually love watching teasers and trailers, usually download all the ones that are available through the PSN. Funny thing, My kid is a big spiderman fan so before Spiderman 3 came out and he was out of control i would play for him the trailer and leave it repeat on and he would just watch the trailer over and over for hours

Yeah, I would have to say it depends. Sometimes they can give the whole movie away. Other times they show just enough to keep you interested. I would say transformers was a good trailor. They show some action scenes, but don't really get into the story at all. I also agree that if a trailor sums up the whole movie, well thats not a good thing either.

I really enjoy a well cut trailer. I enjoyed the Star Wars prequels, but the trailers for all 3 were frakin' brilliant. Wish I hadn't watched that extended trailer for Sunshine Apple posted. It's still definitely an opening weekend movie for me, but they showed some stuff there I would have prefferred to be surprised by. Still can't believe the trailer for Castaway lets you know he gets off the island.
