Default Can someone spoil the IMAX experience for me.

I've never been to an IMAX experience b4. I mean I've been to the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood many times and I'm sure it's nothing close to what IMAX has to offer. Is it really that good?

SM3 was my first IMAX experience, and that ruined it for me.

The movie ****ing sucked, but the screen and sound was great.

I saw Dark Knight in IMAX the 2nd time! and I am really glad because I was having to like look side to side because the screen was so big. But during over city shots it felt like you oculd jump in the city. Its cool but having to look all over kinda got on my nerves.

So it's more of a hug screen thing than sound or image quality thing?

The screen is huge and the sound is REALLY loud, I cant really give you any specs but I know they give them to you AT the theater.

Agrees that SM3 sucked. Trust me, I've had my arguements on here plenty of times.

Yeah I kinda want to buy the trilogy though because the first two were awesome. I loved the first one and how it showed his transformation and everything.

the screen is so tall and wide that its kind of scary and also it could hurt your neck looking up at the screen if your on the lower level

i know im going to get shot for this, but IMAX isn't that great.

we have a mega-screen in our city that I swear is better.

Mega screen is bigger than IMAX
Aspect Ratio is not weird
It plays nearly every major release that comes out
Digital (just like IMAX)
Autotorium is much larger, making getting a good seat easier
and its cheaper.

The Dark Knight was my first IMAX experience and I honestly was NOT impressed. Only about 1/2 of the seats in the theater were really good. The screen was actually smaller than I thought it would be, but the sound was something special. Maybe I just overhyped the whole experience, but I honestly enjoyed watching it in the regular movie theater better. For $20+ per ticket, it's really not an experience, but a vacuum sucking the money from your wallet.

Sounds like the theatres are desperate to get people back. Now that most of 'em are just opting for the Blu release instead so they don't deal with ignorant people in theatres.
It'll be interesting to see what Cameron's Avatar will do to get people back into theatres.

Still like to try it though.

Man, you live in LA. Goto Exposition Park and watch the Imax there. Arclight is nice though. It's hard to find 70mm screens anymore. I remember right before they did the remodeling the Dome showcased a ton of 70mm movies.

Have you been to the National in Westwood? That's not a bad spot to watch movies.

Go drive out to the Bridge off the 405 near LAX. They have a nice Imax setup and they serve beer and wine.

What is SM3? And I love IMAX, I don't have one in my town and i've only seen nature shows in IMAX and those were incredible.
