I know, I said they have certain things that are similar. I still don't think it's really possible to confuse 90's Venom and spawn with each other though. Especially in live action. There's more than enough to differentiate them.

I think Spawn is way more than Basically A Supernatural Venom.

U make me wanna binge watch the animated TV series.
Again, read my second post. I was talking the films themselves. Not the actual characters, besides their looks.

Im actually looking forward to this. MFarlanes's Spawn is what really got me wanting to draw comics & loved the original movie when it came out, though it does not hold up extremely well today, but the soundtrack still kicks A$$...I hope use good choices of licensed music for this as well

Giving the way he's been describing the tone and style of this movie, I hope there's little to no licensed music. It worked with the tone of the 1997 film (even though I thought most of the music was garbage) but I think it would clash with this.

Deadpool can work for Fox with a small budget making it rated R because you don't need that much CG in it, but Spawn needs CG
Well, the small budget might have forced Fox to remove Deadpool's teleportation device. So even a character like Deadpool is limited with a small budget.

Big fan of Todd McFarlane. Always love his interviews, even if he does sometimes ramble.

I love a lot Marilyn Manson music, and his was really the only song on the old movie's soundtrack that I recall liking, actually, but I agree with what you're saying. I think most movies are more effective and taken a lot more seriously, if they are timeless and do not rely on popular music. Just give it a good score and make a good film, without the reliance of popular songs.

I don't mind if they didn't rely on popular music. I trust Blumhouse so I'm sure this will be pretty good. Even though I am disappointed if it's true there isn't going to be a violator in it, I'm still going to go watch this.

Todd only mentions Twitch, surely Sam must be in it too? You can't have one without the other.

I was curious about that, too. A couple months ago in a Facebook Live video, McFarlane showed one page of the script and it was a conversation between Sam and Twitch.

I was wondering about that myself. Maybe this movie takes place before Twitch meets Sam. Supposedly Kevin Smith is developing a Sam and Twitch series for BBC America, and maybe this movie sets that up.

When he first mentioned a while back he wanted Spawn to be low budget I remember thinking Blumhouse would be a great option. I also like how he keeps mentioning Split and Glass being great examples of why Blumhouse being where he wanted to take this movie.

Bad cgi and mediocre acting from Michael Jay White aside, I always liked the Spawn movie.

It's a classic and brilliant, and if you don't like it, you suck.

The CGI sequences in Hell with Malebolgia definitely haven't aged well but I've always thought Michael Jai White was good. I still enjoy the film for the most part and don't think it's nearly as bad as others do. But I'm really looking forward to seeing what the new film is like.

I liked the first one for it's look and dark style. It was crazy and I didn't fully get it.

With updated effects and a good script, this could be a pretty awesome movie. I'm in.

Good interview, love Todd McFarlane. Watching him in that interview, I kept thinking of Saul Goodman?
