This is the one I bought:

This is the "unrated" version:
Both sets include the theatrical and unrated cuts. If you go to each page on this site, it'll tell you. The only difference is the packaging.

Owning AvP on its own and owning it with AvP:R were basically the same price, so I figured why not get both. I've honestly never been able to get all the way through AvP:R.

I own it because I'm a fan of both franchises & like it. Is it the best, no but its far from the worst movie ever.

who says we are all in our right mind . not the best by any stretch and actually my biggest gripe is that half the movie takes place in such darkness that it hardly benefits from what blu-ray has to offer.

Last time I watched Requiem I fast-forwarded through everything but the action and pool scene and had a good time. Only movie I've ever done that with.

Me because it's a great movie.

Are people still trashing this movie? That's sad.

Requiem is just ****ing fun, esp. if you've ever read the "Bad Blood" Predator comic series which it borrows heavy from. Sure most of the actors suck. Sure most is so dark you can't see what's going on. What you can see besides shitty acting is pure mother****ing gold though!

I saw it twice in the theater and had the dvd, wrong branching BD, and now the corrected one. Anyone else go back to theater for this? It was purt-near as dark there too, they had to hide those low budget creature costumes.

I hated Requiem when I first watched it, but have grown to like it. Just don't take it seriously like you would any other Alien movie, it's just a fun bit of tat.

I feel the same way, it's a fun movie, it's nice and gory and it's one of the rare movies between the Aliens and Predators universe where it takes place in a reality type setting. Aside from Predator 2 (which i also love btw) i think that's about it.

Thumbs up

I really dig AvP: R. It's a fun, popcorn monster movie. Nothing more, but certainly nothing less. It's gory, with good action, and while it's intentionally dark, I can see what I'm supposed to see, and tell what's going on. And my eyes are very far from perfect. Check yours.

I saw it opening night, kinda weird cause it was a freezing December night, and loved it. It was fast, brutal, gory and featured tons of monster action. When I saw it in theaters, it was dark, but you could see what needed to be seen. Not sure what happened, when they released it on DVD/Blu-ray. Whenever I watch it on VuDu, it seems much brighter.

My only gripes, the annoying teenage subplot, and the kid surviving being impaled by the Predalien's tail!

Imo, as an Alien fan, it's one of the worst movies I have ever seen, but to each their own.

I didn't agree with his Alien: Resurrection review, but I do agree with this:

I didn't let high hopes affect me. It looked like a pure mindless monster movie from the trailers. From that, never took it seriously. So lower expectations=more enjoyment from the get go. But we are all different, Right? After the 2 previous Alien entries, Alien Resurrection, and the first AVP being PG-13, I already had very low expectations...

The excessively murky lighting, cheap and pathetic effects, exploitative gore, and slasher movie approach make this one of my most hated films of all time but one thing in particular bothers me the most, this film and the first one clearly suffer from bias and favoritism. Paul W.S. Anderson is a bigger Alien fan so of course they steal every moment in the spotlight in the first one, the Strause brothers are bigger Predator fans so they make the Aliens look absolutely pathetic in comparison. They even had the audacity to mock and make fun of alien fans in the commentary.

Well color me infrared! I’ve had AvP R for about 10 years now, and didn’t know about the branching issues. I even got it a few days early as back then I had an early release connection from a video store owner. I see that Jesse’s death was one, but are there other scenes that were affected? I actually really like this movie. I love the dark setting and keeping the monsters in the shadows was a very smart choice in my opinion. I think the movie looks quite slick and would look cheap if it were too brightly lit.
I meant to watch all the Predator movies before Shane Black’s Predator, but I didn’t get around to watching this one again. I saw this theatrically upon release and dragged my seven month pregnant wife to see this and my only complaint is the maternity ward scene. I thought that was a little much. Other than that, I love the hard R violence. The Wolf Predator is a total badass and I wish the Predators and The Predator gave us more from the classic predators as this movie did. Anyways, I’m grateful for the information and I might go Wally World bargain bin diving tomorrow and if I have no luck there, I’ll try to order it from Amazon.
