Default The PS3, the stop button and resuming play

So I have a PS3 and a handful of movie discs.

I've noticed that annoyingly the stop button on the remote will kill the disc back to the PS3 menu interface. And restarting the movie will result in having to go through all the previews etc.

However, I ejected disc one of Robin Hood in the middle of the first episode, and when I put it back in, and selected the disc from the video menu, it returned to the exact point I was playing before I ejected it.

What's the policy for resuming play then? Is it something that depends on the kind of disc you're playing?

The easiest way to determine this on a Blu-ray that is playing on a PS3 is finding which button allows you to pause it during playback. The ability to pause a Blu-ray with the X button means the disc has no BD-Java and can be resumed later. A BD that needs the START button to be paused usually means it has BD-Java on it and will not resume from where you stopped it.
