Default A hitachi p50x902, Director Series? Any good?

Today at my local av store, the salesman was trying to pitch me the hitachi p50x902 over the panny pz800u. Just thought i would get everyones opinion. He said he could sell it at about 2100 or 2000ish.

Hitachi is one of the most underestimated plasma producers out there.

I've seen that exact plasma at my local Visions Electronics, although it has a shorter panel life than Panasonic, (60,000 hours compared to 100,000 hours)
the picture quality blew away everything else in the store in that price range.

Hitachi are wonderful plasmas. They usually come very accurately set right out of the box, so they don't require as much calibration. That is also why they don't stand out in most stores because they arent as bright. They used to share a glass manufacturing plant with fujitsu for their displays, and fujitsu are the best plasmas in the world (before they decided to stop making tv's, they were just too expensive for them to make). They also have a great video processor in them.

i dont think that many people have Hitachis, your best bet is just to read reviews online and then go in store and compare PQ for urself.

good luck

i think most would suggest panasonic/pioneer over hitachi just cause everyone uses pannys/pios more often and the brand name impact.

This is good advice, buy the one you think has better PQ and be assured you won't be buying a dud either way.
