Default Plasma TV placement?

As you can see from my gallery, I have mine on a stand, in a nook/niche. My question is would it be a problem to raise the TV about 3" to the "ceiling" of the nook? I only wonder because all the TV's fans are in the back on the top.

Probably a good idea to leave it as is...give it some room to breath..

There is a local ma and pa stereo shop near me and they have a Kuro in a nook, with only an inch clearance...I put my hand in there and its hot! It is also a brick nook though, which probably makes it worse!

I'd leave it with as much fresh air as possible. Let her breath...

Damn it, thats what I thought.

I have a new beast of a center channel coming and can't fit it on the other shelves, so I wanted to put it on the same glass in front of the TV, but it will block a few inches of the bottom of the screen.

That won't work as it would put the top of the TV to close to the ceiling of the nook. It wouldn't be able to breath very well.

OH I FEEL YOU! I know people were hatin' on my free float stand I have my 5020 on but it's frickin great cause theres SOOO much room under the TV! My center fits under the TV even with the original bottom mount speaker on, but of course I took it off. Take a look ,, sorry the pic's suck. I'll buy a camera next time im at Best Buy. My stand is adjustable ( the TV on the stand anyway )

I would get one of those, but I run into the height problem with the TV being to close to the ceiling. Is the height adjustable? It is just so hard to tell how tall it will be after mounted with those things, and I obviously need to know that with a ceiling.

To me TVs HD or otherwise should be at eye level or slightly below, NOT high up where you have to look upward to watch it.
