Default Plasma placement

If wall mounting is not an option, is it better to have the plasma sitting on top of a stand or mounted to a stand like this: http://www.amazon.com/Segments-Mount...6655713&sr=8-9 Or, does it not really matter?

I don't think it really matters, provided the stand can take the weight. Apart from that, it's a matter of aesthetics.

Doesn't really make a difference, but you got to put your components & center speaker on something, and that stand looks great!

Does anyone have their plasma mounted on a stand like the one shown in the first post? I am just curious how sturdy they are or if it is "safer" to have them on their own stand.

Are you sure wall mounting is not possible?

I put a large plasma up on the wall and have a very fancy mount from Sanus that allows the TV to extend from the wall and twist left or right by 45 degrees. I can't imagine living without it.

I installed it myself, it was easy.

It is going in a cut-out in the wall which is about 58"H x 84"W x 24"D.

Will the plasma and the stand fit in the cut-out if the height is only 58"? You might be pushing it pretty close.

I'm not sure. If the heigh of the mount on the stand is 50", how much above the bracket will the plasma reach?

It looks similar to this: http://www.clemenscustomwoodworking.com/hhh84.html, but wider, shorter, deeper, and without the woodwork.

Maybe you could put the plasma on the opposite side of the room.

And then you could put the sofa in the cutout--just make sure no one stands up!

Altho the bello holds a lot more weight and has prettier glass shelves help up with steel. With a 100lb TV and the stand holds 117lbs... if you pull on it the wrong way it might crash? I'd be scared with a spec like that.
I'd check out the bello stands... see if there is something you'd like more in there. The new TV's are lighter tho... down around 80lbs for 50"

Default So... you'd think you'd have a table that'd look like boobies?
