So which is the best version of The Departed out there?
I see that the US version has a pretty low bitrate (to fit on the HD DVD). There are 3 others that I know of: UK version: released by EIV (DTS MA) French steelbook: released by TF1 (DTS HR) ![]() Italian version: released by Medusa (DTS Lossless) So obviously the French version is out of the running. Anyone know anything about the UK or Italian versions? How are the encodes? High bitrate? Region locked? NTSC extras? |

The Departed from EIV was actually a very good transfer, I watched it the other night and I was very happy with it cos as said before EIV is usaully shit, I have about 6 films from them and the departed is the only good 1.
![]() These people released the film Death Sentence in 1080i and it was terrible looking, so was Bangkok Dangerous. They need to get the transfers sorted but yeah The Departed was a good one for a change ![]() |

I have their editions of 'The Notebook' and 'Rendition', both of which are very good. But their edition of 'Brokeback Mountain' had a totally botched layer change, which made my player actually pause for a couple of seconds. |

Death Sentence is supposed to have strong grain. The 1080i encode is a high bitrate. There's no reason it won't look good unless your player/display can't deinterlace properly.
